It was like any other day.
Peter was walking home from school with homework weighing down his already heavy backpack. He had decided he needed a break from being Peter Parker, so he set his backpack down in an old alley in a corner of Queens. He pulled a red spandex suit from his bag and shimmied it on, then quickly webbed his backpack to the brick wall of said alley.
Peter Parker was having the time of his life, as usual. Swinging building to building, feeling the cool summer breeze from his perch on top of skyscrapers. He felt almost invincible.
That was until he saw a man. He was tall with broad shoulders. He walked towards Spider-Man with a gait of confidence, or maybe cockiness. Peter couldn't tell, but he knew it made his stomach twist in knots. The mans face was forward in determination, and his jaw was set in purposefulness. What alarmed Peter was not just the military grade gun at the daunting man's side, but the blood red octopus logo on his chest.
"Hey, Mr. Hydra guy. I know that uh, we aren't quite on the same side but if you put the gun down maybe we can have a nice, civil conversation about this where a bullet doesn't come out of that thing, okay?" His voice is wavering and he knows it. He walks backwards as the man walks forwards, and Peter almost stumbles off the edge of the very tall rooftop they're residing on.
Peter doesn't expect the man to reply, but when the man speaks Peter silently wishes that he hadn't. "Oh, you're going to wish I had fired this gun." The HYDRA agent talks with a deep, gravelly voice. A voice that would send chills up someone's spine just hearing it.
"That doesn't sound nice. Let's try to keep that from happening, huh?" Peter shoots his webs at the gun, pulling it away from the grasp of the man in front of him. The man doesn't seem to mind as he pulls a taser from his waistband. Peter dodges the electric shock, his spidey-senses warn him of oncoming danger. His spidey-senses seem to be alerting him of too many things at once. From behind, beside, in front of. He can't keep track. He's surrounded.
The battle between the arachnid/human hybrid and the four HYDRA agents is one that Peter Parker never wants to relive. Normally four guys wouldn't be a problem for the spider kid, but these men were more than prepared for Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman. Peter was smart enough to realize that they had tracked and studied him, he could tell by the way they fought. The movements used, the equipment brought, and most importantly the place they were fighting. Right on top of his apartment in Queens.
There are tasers and guns that Peter is able to dodge. What he can't dodge is being tackled to the ground with three guns and four tasters pointed at him, as a tranquilizer with enough sedative to kill an elephant is shot into his thigh. The last thing he hears is the man taunting him once more. "Count backwards from 10, Spiderman."
His eyes roll to the back of his head, and his world goes dark.
When he wakes in a prison cell, the statement of the HYDRA agent is the first thing that comes back to him. Maybe a bullet would've been better.
