[I finally got around to writing this! For you, Sarah. xD Hope you like..

-Sain's POV-

This is hopeless.

As I look at Lady Lyn from across the room, I see her jocular smile light up the dingy pub.

But, alas, I am not the one to make such an angel grace this unworthy place with her enlightening smile.

No, not I. It was my uptight superior, my carrot headed friend, my best carrot headed friend, of all people! Kent, too, smiled, revealing rows of pearly white teeth.

Maybe it was just the ale making me tipsy and muddling my mind, but I had the sudden, primitive urge to go over and grab Lady Lyn and show her whatever Kent could do, I could do ten times better.

That, and whack Kent on the head with my empty mug (which the waitress kept refilling, thus resulting in my current predicament) savagely.

Of course, I was too much of a gentleman to do that.

All around me, I could see couples, enjoying each other's presence, and here I was, getting pissed up and thinking of a way to take Lady Lyn right from under my best friend's nose.

Legault and Heath had snatched up a quiet spot in the back, where Jaffar had dutifully steered Nino away from, upon hearing a small moan.

Wil was wearing…goodness, was that a DRESS?!

Anyway, he was sitting next to Rath and Serra, who had obviously conned Wil into wearing it.

Rath silently enjoyed it.

Poor, poor Lucius was tugging at Raven's shoulder, pleading, "Please, Lord Raymond, you've overstepped your limit!" whilst Raven completely ignored Lucius and chugged another mug of overpowering ale down.

"I have my own problems to worry about," I muttered, eyes locked intently on Lyndis.

Ooh. Urp…!

I stumbled out of the dingy pub and threw up in the grass.

Disgustedly, I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand and sighed, trudging back into the pub, up to the rooms and stared out of the window.

"The moon looks nice tonight…"

I swung around to face the owner of the voice, hand on sword.

"Ahh… Lady Lyndis. I am honoured to be in your presence." I flashed a weak, flirtatious smile as my hand dropped form the hilt of the sword.

She blushed, an unusual reaction.

Usually, she'd slap me, or if she was in a bad mood, mash my toes into the ground.

In random parts of Lycia where we had once set up camp, my feet have been imprinted in the soil, which many travellers mistake it for Bigfoot.

"How do you know…when…you're in love…with someone?" she fingered with the hem of her dress. "I- I just thought that you'd be th-the best person t-to ask."

I swear my heart stopped beating.

"Um… first… you stammer a lot when you're around them…" I moved nearer, unconsciously.

"A-and…you get kind of possessive about them…" I looked into Lyn's deep brown eyes, catching a glimpse of affection.

"And you even…" I gently brushed back some stray hairs from her face, wondering where in Lycia I got the courage to. "…want to…"

But the rest of my sentence was drowned out, as Lady Lyndis leaned forward and our lips met.
