Genius
Summary:[ONESHOT Reid was always called a "genius" but not in the way he liked.
Disclaimer: I don't own Criminal Minds.
A/N: I absolutely love Reid! He's so awesome! Something about guys with high IQ's and such just really smexy. So I decided that I should write something for one of my favorite geniuses! (Btw: Shikamaru (Naruto) and Charlie (Numb3rs) are some of my other favorite genius types.)
"I'm sorry, but you're how old?"
He hated that. Why did everyone always question him like that when he told someone he was only twenty-something? It was a sudden strangeness. The constant questions would result in his team telling them "he's a genius." Well of course he was a genius, he had a PhD already but just the way that everyone seemed to understand after the word "genius" was uttered.
He was only trying to be normal. Well, as normal as a man who reads something and remembers it for the rest of his life can possibly be. Just the idea that the simple word "genius" seemed to be used against him gave him a strange feeling. He was constantly watching murder and confronting families but it was like he could never be taken seriously because of his age. That was natural, but the word "genius" would always come up. Even among his own team, he was the genius who knew everything. Constantly being the focus for the information, it constantly tugged at his mind if he was anything more than "the genius."
"Reid? Hey! You there?" came a voice out of the haze. He was staring into space again, trying to think.
"Huh, what?" he said, looking up to see Morgan standing there, staring at him. He had been holding out a cup of coffee for the doctor for a few seconds when Reid didn't look at him until he snapped out of the daze.
"I was wondering if you wanted some coffee. Didn't mean to freak you out," said the older man, laughing and handing Reid the cup. Morgan had a tendency to laugh everything off and Reid smiled at this.
"Thanks," he said, beginning to come back to the world around him.
Sometimes he was called "the genius" but sometimes he was just a guy who was strange, but because there were people in the world who could laugh it off like Morgan, then there would be plenty of other time to think about how "the genius" plays a role on his team.
-It was really short, I know, but I wrote it at like 1:00 in the morning, so I'm not too worried about it. Thanks for reading!
