Disclaimer: Yup same as always… still don't own anything but my own imagination!

A/N: No beta… just me having a little too much time on my hands I think. Don't tell me I'm the only one who's been thinking about this particular tiny detail with Booth and Brennan?

One little piggy has a mission

If he had to be perfectly honest to himself he had always known that he was destined for something other and more important than just life at a kids toy farm. Even when he was still living with his brothers and sisters, on the shelf in the toy store, he had always been more interested in watching the various customers coming and going than fantasying about playing in the pretend mud of a child's imagination.

Yes Jasper the Pig was indeed not your run of the mill toy pig.

He had seen the man come into the store more times than he really cared to try and count. Jasper had noticed him right away. He had a certain presence about him. He knew he had a child, a son to be specific and the two of them would come in to the store together from time to time. Sometimes the man would look sad, but that was only when he was on his own. When he had his son with him they would be laughing and running around the store playing with all of the toys.

Come to think of it the man would come into the store more often than the other men, who mostly just came in there with regular intervals to buy birthday and Christmas presents. This man however would come there at different intervals and buy all sorts of things – sometimes small things like balls other times it would be huge boxes of LEGOs . Yes Jasper could tell he loved his son more than any other person in the world.

So naturally, when the man came back one later afternoon he though that once again he was picking up something for his son. That however was not the case as he was to find out – who would have though that the man would be able to love another person almost as much as he loved his son?

The man had picked up Jasper from his place on the shelf where he had been sitting for quite a while just watching life go by in the toy store. He had smiled at him and said: "Yes, you sure look like a Jasper to me." And then he had continued on to say, "Don't worry Bones is gonna take good care of you."

Bones… Jasper did not know that name – he knew that the man's son was called Parker. However he trusted the man so he wasn't afraid when he was placed inside the pocket of the man's jeans.

Later from inside the pocket Jasper heard the man talk to someone, it sounded like a woman. They were talking about something which Jasper didn't really understand, but from their tone of voice he could tell that it was important. He could also tell that these two were more than just friends. The man's voice had the same soft feel and tenderness to it as when he was talking to his son.

Suddenly Jasper heard the man say "I got something for you". The man's hand carefully moved into the pocket and picked up Jasper. He heard the woman say "A bottle of hard liquor?" She had a certain sadness in her voice and when Jasper found himself sitting in the open palm of the man's hand he saw that the sadness was also settled in her eyes. However that all changed when the man said, "Next best thing….Meet Jasper." That made the woman smile and right then and there Jasper knew he had finally found his calling in life – making sure that the woman would smile like that at least once a day.

Since then life may not always have been easy. Jasper found his new home inside a large bag the woman took with her everywhere. That is when he didn't lounge around on her desk in front of her computer. As far as Jasper's mission of making the woman smile every day? Some days it was easier than others, but with the help of the man he was confident that someday the woman would smile, all on her own.

The End-ish
