So this is the story I came up with based on the prompt "I love you is an inscription on Pandora's box." Because I had no idea where the quote is from and what the quote is about, I interpreted it my own way.
Hope you have fun!

Unrequited
By Dark
It was just a dream I lived too much.
She was the princess of stars and he was the emperor of fire. Lucy was the kind, rational mind and Natsu, my best friend, was a ball of positive energy. They loved each other seamlessly.
I was the only one in pain. After all, what else do you call the love never returned?
I was the only one unrequited.
It was like everything in my life was a spirit in the Pandora's jar. The spirit of death took my parents away, the spirit of greed left me in an orphanage. The spirit of disease made my lovely stepmother bedridden, and the spirit of lies cost me my relationship with my brother. The only thing left in my Pandora heart was a hope for love.
On Christmas Eve, there was a party at the bar. I glanced at Natsu and Lucy, laughing together at the corner. Before looking turned into staring, I gazed away.
"Hey Gray," I glanced at Natsu, his stare boring into me. I hadn't noticed him approaching. "Let's talk outside?"
"Sure."
"You like Lucy, don't you?"
I stared at him, masking the stabbing pain. He assumed my silence as an affirmative.
"Don't let it destroy our relationship."
I laughed, "And by our relationship, do you mean you and Lucy, or you and me?"
His eyes widened in shock. I didn't hear him go back inside. I just turned and walked away.
I was Pandora and my heart was the box: the moment I'd confess my feelings, the hope I have in my heart would forever be lost. Because I knew from the beginning a hope for us was just fictitious.
Because I loved Natsu and I knew he would never love me back.
Happy New Year!
Dark
