At seven years old Nico Di Angelo always admired his next door neighbor. Percy Jackson at age ten was tall, athletic, and kind. He would always let Nico tag along with his friends, and was like an older brother he never had.

He did have an older sister; Bianca was also ten and was more hesitant to let Nico tag along. She was still protective, but didn't want to drag her younger brother with her friends. Never the less; the Jacksons always invited the Di Angelos over for everything. Percy's father Poseidon always allowed Nico to play catch or any other sport him and Percy were playing, and Sally always invited Maria and Bianca over for lunch, shopping, or to bake something. Poseidon was the captain of a large fishing boat, and would take Percy and Nico out with him; he would even let them steer the boat on calm waters.

Nico and Bianca adored the Jacksons, because unlike their busy father Hades there was always a voice to hear, an ear to listen, fresh cookies to eat, and someone to play with. Hades ran a burial company ranging from making coffins, to digging the grave. He was a stoical man; who wasn't home much, but loved his wife and children very much.
