Molly searches in the darkness for a light to show her the way out of this nightmare. The door isn't there, though and there's no escape from here; everything is dark and hurtful. The monsters have stopped chasing her, though, and now she's just lost in the darkness, alone. She can't figure out which one she prefers.

There's a little girl, not quite as little as her but still needs just as much protecting, sipping tea, barely illuminated by a dim lantern of light on the table in front of her. Molly doesn't understand how she could have missed her before. There's china on the table and biscuits crumbs on the girl's finger tips as she licks it off. Molly doesn't understand her calmness in this nightmare.

Running over to her, Molly asks, "Does the Boogie Man have you too?"

"No," the girl smiles calmly, shaking her head, picking up her tea, "I'm just waiting to exist. Don't mind me."

"You don't exist?"

"Oh, I do, in some very important people's hearts outside. They're waiting for me."

"I have people waiting for me too—Matt and Mohinder. They're almost my family; they're probably so worried."

The girl nods, "My family is waiting too—my sister and my mother—even if they haven't noticed I'm not and never have been there yet—" the girl looks down to her watch and sighs, "—though it's almost that time, now. Y'know, when the sun rises."

"Dawn?"

"Yeah," she smiles, and takes another sip, "though I suppose you won't notice in the dark."

Molly blinks, "What are yo—?"

(While you're waiting to be saved, I'm just waiting to be, in general) The Other chokes on the answer.

There's growling in the darkness again, and sound and smell that is unmistakably hunger. The girl sighs again, "You should get going or they'll find you; they're awfully hungry. They can always smell blood."

Molly nods turns, picking a way to go and runs along. "Oh," the other calls after her, brushing the biscuit crumbs off her fingers and pulling the lantern closer, "take this," and throws Molly the light, "I have some to spare."

She counts her steps until the time she hear teeth ripping into flesh and stops counting to run faster.

(Dear diary,
I had (my first dream) a dream last night.
It was, and I appreciate the irony, a nightmare.
Thank God it's not real.
Dawn out.

P.S. Buffy stole my bedside lamp. Not happy.
Will be stealing cute red jacket in retaliation.)

NOTES:

1. — Molly meets Dawn. Or TheKeyAlmost!Dawn. The Key hangs out in Dreamspace while waiting to exist, waiting for the monks to finish making her be. Molly nightmare is Unseen!Monster and Lost/in/the/dark.

2. — Heroes section because it follows Heroes canon more than Buffy.
