This is something that i wrote ages ago. I know it is not correct with what happened in canon, but it is how it came out. I hope you like it.

Before the crowd even had a chance to cheer, McGonagall was heading towards James with a look that he had rarely seen before. Her eyes were so narrow that it was a wonder she could even see and her lips pursed so tightly together that they were barely visible.
Before James had a chance to open his mouth, she had performed the counter curse on Snape so that now he was standing upright. She walked briskly to where James was standing and came so close to him that he was sure he could see steam billowing from her nose and ears.
"Potter what on God's green earth gave you the idea that you could hang someone upside down and humiliate them in front of the entire school?".
"Well Professor, it's not really the entire school, is it" replied James with one of his more charming smiles.
"Do not start with me Potter. I have rarely been more ashamed of one of my students before. And of a sixth year?! I thought you had more common sense and decency, but obviously i gave you more credit then you deserve". All throughout this speech James' smile slowly turned to a frown and his head hanged in shame.
After a few seconds of silence had past, she glanced to Sirius. "I am glad to see that one of you had the common sense not to partake". Her look further glanced to Remus. He too was hanging his head in shame. He risked looking up at her and immediatley wished he hadn't. Although she did not say anything, he could tell what she was thinking. He was a prefect - why did he not stop James from humiliating Snape?
His thoughts were interrupted by McGonagall's cold voice. "Severus you are bleeding, make your way up to Madam Pompfrey - no but's! Potter I will notify you later in the evening once i have found a suitable punishment. In the mean time try and behave yourself".
As she stormed off, Sirius turned to James. " All that for a girl, huh? Was it worth it?"
James looked at his friend and replied "Shut up Sirius" as he stormed off to the gryffindor common room.
"Well thats great. Now i am going to have to go and get myself a detention. Can't have Prongs overtaking me. What do you two think i should do?"
He was met only by silence. It was hard to tell whether Remus was actually listening or if he was just too preoccupied with his own thoughts to answer. Peter was looking for something to do now that James and the Snitch were gone.
"Fine, dont answer. I'll find something myself". He walked away.
