Author's Note: The idea for this drabble hit me after ABC Family re-aired the episodes where Chet died. Those are two of my favorites ever, and I can't remember the show really exploring Jack's grief too much afterwards.
Jack is drowning in his grief. He's remaining strong for Shawn, which is just making things worse. How is it fair that he and Shawn lost their father? How is it fair that he never really got to know Chet?
His mother doesn't really understand why Jack won't come over anymore. He's avoiding his stepfather because he's so understanding, which doesn't even make sense, but Jack doesn't care.
"Dad, I wish I could have gotten to know you better," Jack whispers. At least he has Rachel to help him through his grief.
Jack can't stop thinking about the "what if's".
