Author's notes: This is a one-shot song-fic about how Klaus felt when Fiona betrayed him. It's been done before, but not to this song. This has some spoilers for "What's the Name of the Game?" and has lots of Fiona bashing. YAY! I HATE FIONA!
DISCLAIMER: I don't own ASOUE. I wish I did- I'D KILL OFF FIONA! I also don't own this Kim Wilde version of "You Just Keep Me Hangin' On"- hey, I was in an 80's mood! Oh, and where it says "Why don't you be a man about it" I changed man to woman.
Set me free why don't you babeGet out of my life why don't you babe
'Cause you don't really love me
You just keep me hangin' on
Klaus Baudelaire couldn't believe it. The girl he thought was the only one who understood him was gone. Fiona had made him feel complete, feel good in the midst of the tragedies he had been through with his sisters. He loved her with all his heart. And then she betrayed him.
Set me free why don't you babeGet out of my life why don't you babe
'Cause you don't really need me
But you keep me hangin' on
Fiona had kissed him. Did that mean that she felt the same? She did once.
"I need to get over her," Klaus whispered to him self as he climbed into the taxi with Kit Snicket. "She doesn't love me anymore."
Why do you keep a comin' aroundPlaying with my heart
Why don't you get out of my life
And let me make a brand new start
Let me get over you
The way you've gotten over me, yeah
But could he ever love anyone else? He only knew her for a few days… But yet he was so sure that she was the one. But he was too trusting, and she abandoned him. Who else was there?
You say although we broke up
You still just wanna be friends
But how can we still be friends
When seeing you only breaks my heart again
"When you think of me," Fiona told Klaus when they parted, "think of a food you like very much." That was it. Then she left him standing there, dumbstruck. Violet glanced at Klaus and noticed his eyes. They were burning with anger, softened by grief, and wide from astonishment. She knew it would take him awhile, but he had to let go.
Get out, get out of my life
And let me sleep at night
'Cause you don't really love me
You just keep me hangin' on
Isadora was there. She and Klaus always had a special bond, and he loved her as well… But he still felt a tie to Fiona. And then Isadora told him it would never work between them if he still loved Fiona, and then was when he made his decision.
You say you still care for me
But your heart and soul needs to be free
And now that you've got your freedom
You still want to hold on to me
You don't want me for yourself
So let me find somebody elseHe loved Isadora. He knew she adored him and felt the same way. He had always trusted her, and knew she wouldn't betray him. He hoped that he would never see Fiona again, he was so happy. And he wanted it to stay that way. Klaus let go, and found love in someone closer.
Why don't you be a woman about it and set me free
Now you don't care a thing about me
You're just using me- Hey, abusing me
Get out, get out of my life
And let me sleep at night
'Cause you don't really love me
You just keep me hangin' on
You don't really need me
You just keep me- hangin' on
