Chapter 1
I stared at my front door, wondering if he was home.
"Only one way to find out Louise!" I said to myself as I reached for the front door's handle and slowly opened it, dread and worry made my stomach turn and my face scrunch in anticipation but the only thing that greeted me was absolute silence. My stomach quickly unwound itself as I rushed upstairs to my room, when I reached it I let out a sigh of relief as I saw my sister laid on my bed, wrapped in a blanket. Slowly I walked towards her and carefully unwrapped the blanket, cautious to not wake her.
"No!" I cried out despairingly as I saw the hand shaped bruise that covered her arm with crescent shaped cuts where the monster had dug his nails in. The clothes and nappy I put on this morning were still on her so I grabbed a nappy and started to change her, accidentally waking her. I continued to change her, she didn't make a noise, I dread to think of what happens to her while I am at school, I can escape for a while at least but I have to leave her behind when I go. I felt the hot sting of tears and blinked rapidly.
"I guess he didn't feed you?" I received no reply from the silent year old child but I continued anyway to distract myself from my looming tears that threatened to fall. "Of course he wouldn't, he never has done since you were born has he my little bell." She just stared up at me as if she knew what I was doing, knew that I was barely holding on inside.
"Come on, Let's make a bottle for you before he comes back." I picked her up once again and walked down stairs and into the kitchen. I sat her up on the counter as I went through the process still talking. "In English we are reading this amazing story, it's called The Labyrinth. I wish it was true Bell. If it was then I could get you away from all this, I could save you and you would finally be free." I handed her the freshly made bottle and watched as she raised it to her mouth and begin to drink.
"Oh how I wish it was true" I whispered as i let the tears fall.
