Yes, I know, not very original settings but I've always wanted to do one of those time twisty things .;)

Chapter one

All of Hogwarts school was filling up the Great Hall nearly to bursting. It was a good thing that most of these students would Graduate this year to make way for the new ones.
Headmaster Albus Dumbledore got up, with a bright smile on his face. "Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts children. Now! Who would like to accompany me in singing the school song-." At that moment a flash of light filled the hall and the next minute there was a girl standing, where, two second ago there had been none. Brushing her hair out of the way she looked around, her eyes going wide as saucers. "Well," She said. Looking towards the Headmaster an expecting expression on her face. When he gave no answer she waved her hand in front of his face as if to see if he was aware. "Sir, I'm the new exchange student from 'merica, Arizona to be precise and- why are you all looking at me like that?" Here she had turned to see the students mouths agape staring like they'd never known manners. Staring at her.
The Headmaster, having regained his composer stood up to extend his hand to the strange girl in front of him though he towered a good 3 ½ feet above her. " I am Professor Albus Dumbledore I am Headmaster of this school, and, you would be whom exactly?" This all he said with a half amused smile on his face, trying not to chuckle at the state of the girl in front of him. Her hair hung cut in a boys stile, something he had never seen before, long tresses in the front to frame her face but cut close to inches in the back. "Oh! I'm Lizz- I mean Amelia Ravyen, sir." Her face drew in to a pinch here as if she'd caught herself from saying something very wrong. A look of shock came upon the Headmaster's face. Followed quickly by distrust. "That is impossible, my dear girl, for a Ms. Amelia Ravyen was born two days ago. This information was given to me by a very dear friend of mine not six hours before it was reported into the schools registry files. Now, I will ask again. 'Who are you?'" At these last words he drew his wand. Pointing it menacingly at the girl before him. Blinking she passed her eyes over the staff members as if counting out the familiar faces amongst them. Gasping lightly she turned to the older man in front of her. "There's someone missing." She said in a dead tone. Her skin had gone pale and she looked about to drop toa faint. "Where's Professor Snape?" She turned again to look as an uproar of voices from the students drowned any words from the Headmaster out. "Hah, did you hear that?Snape, a Professor?" This came from a dark haired boy at what Amelia could guess was the Gryffindor table, since it was decked out in a gaudy red with gold trimmings. Sneering a silver haired boy stood up. "Well Black, at least we know Sev's got brains enough to do the job. You probably couldn't teach muggle kindergarten." Looking round his table he smirked as the students surrounding him laughed and clapped him on the back. Looking up he caught her eye and flashed her a grin.
Frowning she looked back to the Headmaster. "Sir, what- what year is it?" Dreading his answer she steeled herself to it. Sharing a confused look with his staff Dumbledore spoke; "It is the year 1987." The color seemed to fade from her and she grasped for the tables edge. "It can't be, it can't be," She whimpered. On reflex gripping her hands together into fists. "Why cannot it be my dear?" At her pale shaking figure the Headmaster's gaze softened. "Because, Sir, just this afternoon it was the year 2006, where I'm from."
