Piano
A beautiful sound, one I never heard before, flooded the room. The noise was the sound of icicles and little sleigh bells mixed into one impacting combination. I felt the sadness of the music seep into my body slowly and spread throughout my veins. The magic of the sound drew my curiosity and I slowly advanced towards the door, afraid that this was a dream and one wrong step would disturb the sound. I pushed open the door with a slight creek of the hinges and peered in. My brother dressed in a ghost white dress shirt and black pants was seated at a stool, hovering over a big machine of some kind that the beautiful sound emitted. The machine was like an elegant beast, sent to life by my brother's slender fingers. Keys of ivory white and charcoal black decorated the magical object. Smooth brown wood delicately curled underneath the keys in which his fingers dancing across. I was in awe at the scene in front of me until the music slowed to a stop, and his captivated violet eyes caught mien and he smiled.
"Kohana, come here," he said in a voice almost as beautiful as the sound that once played.
"Tamaki, what is this?" I came over and ran my small fingers across the wood. The coolness sending shivers crawling up my arm.
"It's a piano. Do you want to learn?" he invited me to sit on his lap.
"Yeah!" I took the offer and he laid my fingers on the spruce keys.
"Okay, so when you release a key, it causes a vibration within the piano, see?" he pressed my finger down gently and in produced the same unique sound that I had heard. My soul was enlightened. I could do nothing but smile. And so, from then on, Tamaki continued to teach me this elegant beast known as a piano.
