"Where is he?"

"We cuffed him and left him with McGee in the van Boss."

"Good work you two. Go home. Get some rest."

"Thanks Gibbs."

Kate and Tony walked back through the open fields toward the car. The full moon made the journey fairly easy, but it was still hard going with the hidden dangers of logs and stones in the grass. They walked in silence as they were both fairly tired from chasing a madman through a forest for half the night.

Suddenly Tony yelped and fell flat on his back. Kate gave a short laugh, but really was too tired to tease him about it for long. She kept walking, but stopped when she realized Tony wasn't getting up.

"DiNozzo! What's wrong with you?"

"Nothing. It's just really nice here… the stars, the moon, the breeze, the laying down and not moving… you should try it."

"I'll lie down when I get home and into my nice comfy bed. C'mon you've got the keys. Get up."

"Give me a minute then…"

She stood, looking up at the sky for a while and when Tony made no attempt to get up, she gave in and sat down in the grass.

"OK, rest for a little while, and then we're going home. Deal?"

"Mmhmm."

Two minutes later and Kate found herself lying next to Tony in the field, staring up at the sky.

"Do you know any of the constellations?" She asked him.

"Nope. You?"

"Nah. Dad used to point them out to me, but I could just never see them."

"I'm not sure anyone can see them."

"True," she laughed.

"I haven't looked at the night sky like this since I was a kid."

"Me either. It's beautiful, isn't it?"

"Yeah."

Tony took his eyes off the sky to look across at Kate. He was silent a while, just watching her watching the sky. Then he began laughing softly.

"What's so funny?" she grinned across at him.

"Look at us! We're lying in a field in the middle of nowhere at night because we can't be bothered going home!"

She laughed too.

"Yeah, I guess we should get going."

Neither made an attempt to get up.

"It's a nice night." Tony said.

"That it is."

"There are blankets and bug spray in the truck."

"That there is."

"We could… stay here…"

"Stay here? In the middle of a field? For the whole night?"

"Driver fatigue Katie. It's not safe to drive home."

"But one of us would have to walk all the way to the car to get the gear anyway."

"Well then, we could both walk to the car and camp in the car for the night…?"

Kate sighed and looked over at him. He grinned back at her.

"You're lucky I'm too exhausted to argue with you DiNozzo."

He laughed, and then leaned across to give her a peck on the cheek.

"But you still love me," he smirked and sat up. After struggling to get to his feet, he extended a hand to Kate and she accepted. They began the walk to the car, but Tony didn't let go of Kate's hand. She cleared her throat as a way of drawing his attention to the fact.

"If I fall down again, I'm dragging you with me." He told her by way of explanation and then gave her hand a light squeeze.

She laughed and followed him to the car, yawning widely and looking to the moon. Then she squeezed back.

I was star-gazing… I got mushy… so shoot me. But be a darl' and review first won't you? X )
