I love Mondays.
They are the one day of the week when I can do what I want without him around.
Even as soon as the week after we were wed I knew that this was not going to be what I was hoping for.
Sure, he was nice to me. I don't hate him. But it seemed like all we were able to do was say hello, then go our separate ways.
I've heard that he goes to see the botanist in Konohana. But it's not like I care much. He could be with her father and I wouldn't care.
I have my own fun here in Bluebell while he is away.
I woke up with a smile on my face. I watered my crops and left my farm, knowing that my pets would make sure that my animals were fed.
I ran into the miniature park. He was sitting on one of the wooden benches. I looked around before speaking.
"You remember what today is, I assume?" I said with a smile on my face.
"Of course I do! I look forward to this every week!" He replied, smiling as well.
"Let's go!"
I grabbed his hand and we ran to the top of the mountain, not once stopping to admire the scenery like I used to do with my husband. Somewhere along the way my bandana and his hat had flown off. But, it's not like we cared. We had finally reached the top. I led him to our favorite spot, a spot worn yet somewhat greener than the rest of the area.
We lay down, his honey and my auburn hair entangling in each other as he held me close to him. I could feel his heartbeat through the thin fabric of our shirts. I looked at him and smiled, but a frown had graced his face and I frowned as well.
"What's wrong?"
"Why did you propose to him?"
The question hit me like a car, flattening my happy feelings.
"What?" I asked, my eyebrows raised.
"Why did you ask him to marry you?" He asked me, propping his head up on one arm.
I flipped over so I was laying on my back and I looked at my yellow skirt, sighing.
"Well…" I said, faltering, "You see… it was what I had to do…to get the towns back together."
"Don't give me that shit, Lillian." He spat at me.
"Hey," I replied, sitting up. "Don't curse at me."
"I wouldn't have to if only you would tell me the truth!" He exclaimed.
"You don't have to do anything!"
He sighed and turned away. I could see tears in his eyes.
"Look, I'm-"
I was interrupted by a hug, and he sniffed. I felt tears seeping through my shirt.
"It's okay." He said into my shirt, which made me start to cry as well. After a few moments he pulled away and we lay back down on the grass. His eyes were red and puffy, and so were mine, but it was okay. Then he stood up and took off his gloves, and took off his dress shirt, but left on his orangey-red short sleeved turtleneck.
"Don't you ever get hot wearing all that?" I asked him, tilting my head.
"What, you want me to take off the rest of my clothes?" He replied teasingly.
I smiled at him mischievously.
He took off his shirt, and I got up too. Just when we were about to kiss, I heard a gasp from behind me.
He and I pulled away, like matching sides of a magnet.
"What are you two doing?" The man in front of us nearly shouted, pointing at us.
"You know what? I don't even know why we were hiding this from you in the first place!" The man I was with yelled back.
"Because my life is going to be freaking miserable now that he knows…"I murmured.
"Anyways, it's not like you were doing the same thing in Konohana!"
"Well, at least I had the decency not to do it out in the open! Anyone could see you, especially with all the noise you're both making!"
"Ash…" I whispered to him.
"Yeah?" He whispered back, turning his head to face me.
"Let's run."
I grabbed his hand for the second time today as Cam winded up his arm, but just as he swung, we ran. We down the path that let to Konohana, but when we were about halfway down, I pulled him onto a side path that led to an enclosed area that overlooked the village. We fell onto the unkempt grass, breathing heavily. I looked at him. He pulled me closer to him, and I got my kiss.
