Hemish was sitting alone in a corner of the school yard during the break eating the sandwich John prepared for him that morning with lots of care. John was always looking out for him and it seemed to Hemish that John was probably the only person that loved him besides Mrs. Hudson. Alice would get annoyed at him really easily and Sherlock well he either ignored him or yelled his head off at him all the time.
It had only been a week since he and Alice had started school but Alice already had a pack of friend and he was all alone. No one liked him so he thought not even his own sister. She was always with the other children and would spend the most minimum time with him possible during the day.
He guessed Alice had enough of him at home; but still it saddens him how no other kid wanted to play with him. Once he was lost in thought lamenting his existence like he always did while alone a little girl with light brownish hair styled in two pony tails with an apple on her hand came up to him.
He looked surprised at her and though that maybe he was sitting on top of something that belonged to her. he looked quickly down to check and looked backed at her in confusion. As if guessing his thoughts the little girl giggled and said smiling
"Haha no don't worry you're fine. I was wondering if I could sit with you"
Hemish looked in awe at the little girl having trouble believe what was happening.
"You, want, to, sit, with, me?" he mumbled surprised
"Yes if you don't mind. The other kids were making fun of me because I have two dads and I really don't want to go back to class and eat my apple alone"
"You have two dads?" asked Hemish excitedly "I have to dads too! and I'm always being teased about it as well!"
"Oh really?" asked Jenny surprised
"Yeah I understand is hard. I'm Hemish by the way what's your name?" he asked smiling
"I'm sorry, my name is Jenny."
"That's a pretty name I like it."
"Really?" asked Jenny surprised
"yeah it's really pretty." said Hemish looking down at his a bit embarrassed as he scoot over a little to make space for little Jenny. "Here you can sit and eat your apple"
"Thank you" said Jenny with a small giggle noticing Hemish's reaction.
"You are very nice Hemish" she added as she sat down.
"you think so?" he looked at her again surprised. No one had ever been so nice to him before.
"Yeah you are probably the nicest kid I know."
"Now you are just being sarcastic there are so many more kids that are better than me"
"No I mean it! I know we just met but I know you are"
Hemish hesitated for a moment before sitting up again.
"Jenny do you want to be best friends?" he asked her finally
Jenny looked at him, smiled and said with her happy giggly voice "I would love to Hemish" before she bit her apple.
As Jenny bit down the juicy read fruit the bell announcing the end of the break rang sending them both on their way back to different classrooms.
As Hemish ran to his class he looked back at Jenny and waved good bye to her really hoping he would see her again tomorrow.
