The Tragedy

At first he hates. And he screams at them go away, go away with his ice cold eyes, but they don't, they stay, and that is what hurts most of all, because what if they leave?

Because by then the prettyprettypink smiles have started to seep through and warm him, and the brightbrightblonde grins start to fill his world with light, and he has started to wonder.

What if, what if?

But then the curse comes to claim him, and the inky blackness smothers him and eats him alive.

And suddenly the prettyprettypinkness cannot warm him, and his world turns dark once again.

Revenge, he thinks. Revenge.

So he leaves the fox and he leaves the princess, even though she screams and cries for him (and he loves her greengreen eyes, but he does not love her, he cannot, avengers don't love) and he offers comfort the only way he knows how (sleepandforgetme) and turns his back.

So the fox promises the princess (promiseofalifetimesakurachan!) but he fails, and the princess' kingdom turns to dust.

Years later and they meet again, and the princess is not a princess (she's a goddamn kunoichi) and she can smash boulders with her pinky, so why does he freeze and tremble under one mans gaze? The fox hasn't changed, unless you look and you see the bags under his eyes and the little lines that decorate his forehas, and you see the sneaky side glances (are you okay sakura chan?) and the fox has grown.

And then he breaks all the rules, and the fox and the princess think they mightmightmaybe be able to hope again, but he runs from them (again and again, through time and through space he runs) and he declares that this is his path, not theirs, and he doesn't realise (they will always follow) that it is their path too.

And there is a battle, a grand grand battle, and it would have been beautiful if it hadn't been so heartbreaking.

(it's romeo and Juliet all over again, but this is epic) and this time the princess stands and fights.

They die together, in the fire and the smoke. They die, and the princess wonders if maybemaybe he will be whole again, and he wonders if her heart could heal.

In time, but their time is running out. And they reach out, struggling, struggling.

They almost make it.

And that is the tragedy.

A/N

My computer is being an arsehole, and the internet is not working –le gasp- so I got bored and wrote.

I AM GOING TO GERMAN LAND NEXT WEEK.

I can't speak a word of German tho. And I have an English oral on Thursday, and a French test tomorrow, and I'm going to fail miserably.

YAY.
