A young woman silently watched the moon. Watching it change. She sat in a clearing, her black cape gently flowing behind her like a gentle storm cloud. Everything that led up to tonight pressed down on her mind. Her weapons-daggers, a glaive, and her favorite handgun, she was equipped for battle.

Her aura waxed and waned, burning an impression, which cannot be erased, to all those she encounters. The silence of the forest refreshed her mind, sharpening her senses to hear the slightest of noises, and, at the same time, relaxing and comforting her as she waited silently for that which probably would not come. As she stared up at the waxing moon, accompanied only by twinkling stars. The light from the sky bathed and illuminated her pale skin, giving her the appearance of a celestial being. As she watched the moon reach its zenith, she fingered her daggers eagerly, waiting to take action, and at the same time, wishing she wouldn't have to. A sudden gust of cold wind blew her black hair behind her, making it flow like a waterfall of the night sky. Her grey eyes flickered with many emotions; sadness, anger, relief, and even fear as she stared up at the silver sliver in the sky, knowing that he wasn't coming. Her sigh filled the silent, empty night and seemed to linger before the silence returned. She reluctantly got up and headed back the way she came. Home. Temporarily, at least. It was a small encampment on a riverbank. Before reaching there, however, she changed into a normal, senior high school uniform that most students wore in modern day Japan. Three years had passed since she first began this wretched journey. Three years. She went from predator to ideal prey in just a change of wardrobe. This change wasn't unusual for her. It was even frequent. None of her companions knew of her changes. They only knew her as the prey.

All they knew was the Shikon Jewel Shards, and their more frequent obtaining of them recently. She, to them, was still their weak shard detector-slash-friendly miko. To Inuyasha, though, she was naught but a shard detector. Nothing more, nothing less. Well, maybe less, but she couldn't be sure with the way he acted around her.

As she slipped into her sleeping bag on the edge of camp and felt someone watching her every move. There was someone or something outside the camp. She extended her aura to it, found no ill intentions, and drifted off to sleep.

"Wench, wake up! We gotta find those jewel shards!" came a loud, grating voice. Kagome woke up slowly, taking her time by rubbing her eyes, stretching, and doing just about everything but getting up. "Uwah…? Inuyasha? What do you want?" she forced out a rather large yawn. "I want food! Gimme ramen!" "Ouswari!" The mystical necklace around the now down hanyou's neck glowed before pulling him forcefully to the ground, followed by the usual string of curses and empty threats. "Gimme, gimme never gets." She said angrily and stomped off.

I, uh, updated it? No, that's not right...I changed it a bit. I'm sorry to those who've been waiting for me to update, but I've got a surgery soon and really can't be doing this. I'm too bust freaking out. Here's a re-done chapter?
