Memories
The bugs danced around the neon lights of Joe's Hungry Hotdog stand as a gentle breeze wafted through the night air. Calvin looked over at Susie and smiled nervously. In all the twenty and some odd years that he had known her he had never been as nervous as he was tonight. That was why he picked this spot to do it this hotdog stand was the beginning of his and Susie's relationship. Should he fail tonight it seemed only fitting that it end where it started.
"Calvin", Susie said as she put down her hotdog and looked at him "What's up, you seem nervous".
"Susie", Calvin said with a smile as he hit one knee. "Will you marry me"?
Tears started to form in Susie's eyes as they ran down her cheeks knots started to form in Calvin's stomach. His whole life hung on what those tears meant.
"Calvin" she whispered.
'Oh no', Calvin thought as he looked at Susie. He knew what those tears meant by the sound of her voice.
"I", She whispered.
Calvin lowered his head and looked at the ground.
'here it comes', he thought as he braced for impact.
"Would" Susie said and then she paused.
Calvin squinted his eyes shut and tried to sink into the sidewalk.
"Love to", she said.
