Summary: Edward visits his mother's grave after the funeral by himself. He's about 10. Drabble.

A/N: In memory of my Grandmother who passed away on July 28th, 2005, only 18 days shy of her 85th birthday.
The sky slowly darkened as the sun set. A lone figure stood gazing emotionlessly at the small tombstone so deep in thought.
For hours he stood there. Even after the sun had set, the small figure did not waver from his spot.
The air had gotten colder but it went unnoticed. His hair swayed gently in the wind and the moon still beamed brightly down at him even on such a sorrowful night.
Finally, his knees buckled and he sat in front of the burial. A small trembling hand reached up and fingered the engravement.

Year 78-Year 08
A loving mother and wife,
She will always be remembered.
The engraved stone felt cold and hard under his hand-so unlike his mother's soft, warm touch. He had shed so many tears that day but yet it didn't seem like it was enough.
His throat tightened and a lump grew. He swallowed hard and blinked but no matter what, a tear escaped and the dam broke. Instead of wailing, silent tears rolled down his innocent face. He made no sound. One after another they fell.
"…mother…why…"
A choked whisper broke the silence of the night.
"…mother…why…why did you leave?" He hiccupped. "…I loved- no, love you mom…Al's all I have left now…I'm sorry for everything bad I've done…can't you come back…?" His anguished voice died as more tears fell.
He bit his lip to stop the tears but they still came.
He fingered the characters again, shakily while unaware of another small figure that stood a distance away, watching and silently shedding his own tears of grief.
