Obi-Wan tilted his head as he watched his padawan curl beneath the cot covers, attempting to shield the thunderstorm even more from his ears. They had only been on the outer planet for a few hours when the heavens opened and literally poured every drop of moisture on them. It had taken him three days after taking Anakin as his apprentice that he had discovered the fear the boy had of the rain and thunderstorms. He had never seen one before and water falling from the sky was merely something of myth; so when the first storm his the Jedi temple, the boy had literally hid in a lower cabinet in his room.

"Anakin, I thought you had over come that fear years ago." He mused quietly as he sat cross-legged on his own cot. His only answer was an angry glare that was thrown over his shoulder and then he scooted further into the cot and covered his head with a blanket.

He could still remember the coaxing the young boy out from under the cabinet, "It's nothing, really. Just rain."

"But water comes from machines. Is someone trying to drown us, Master Obi-Wan, sir?" He refused to move from his box.

"Fairly positive." He smiled kindly, grabbing the smaller hand in his and tugging softly as though coaxing a wild animal from its home. Blue eyes looked to him uncertain and yet there was the desire to trust his new master; Obi-Wan smiled at the overwhelming feelings from his young student. Their bond was newly formed and raw at best, everything was washing in without barriers; Obi-Wan had never been on the receiving end of a non-barrier bond and he vaguely wondered if Qui-Gon had to deal with this when he was younger. "Come on," He eased with laughter in his voice, "think of this as a trusting exercise. I'll always watch out for you." It took a few more minutes of the boys fighting within himself and a warm, definite sensation flooded the bond and a strong small hand was placed in his own.

He smiled again at the trust he saw in bright blue eyes as the boys face came into the shadows; those eyes locked on his face and even when Obi-Wan led him to the window, he kept eye contact.

"We're going to just watch it." He said softly and pointed to the large window looking over the gardens. The boys hand tightened around his and he plastered himself to the strong leg of his master, blue eyes wide as they looked at the torrent outside.

"Y-you're sure.." He began quietly, "No one is drowning out there?"

"Not because of the rain." He said honestly without going into the dark side of some beings, "It's as simple as a shower - just outside."

"You bathe outside?"

The utter awe he saw in the young face made him laugh, "No. But, it's just as harmless."

There was uncertainty in the bond and it was no surprise when the boy whispered, "C-could I sleep with you?"

Such interactions were normally looked down upon; but this wasn't a typical case and surely any other Jedi wouldn't have said no. "Only when it rains."

Obi-Wan watched as the now older Anakin shivered at a loud clap of thunder; he sighed and stood, walking over to the cot where his partner lay. He slid behind the man and pulled the covers over both their shoulders; instantly the chosen one relaxed and rolled his back into the warm chest. "Only because it's raining." He whispered to the man that was already starting to ease into sleep.
