"Sandra we need you in the office!" Gerry said worriedly as she answered the phone.
"No, it's my day off and I'm busy." Sandra said an annoyed edge to her voice.
"You're never busy."
"I am today, if no one's dead or dying then go away and stay away until I see you tomorrow and that applies to all of you."
"But Sandra…"
"But nothing. Bye Gerry and I expect the office to be as I left it." Sandra told him, hanging up before he had the chance to argue.
It was a rarity that she had a whole day to herself and she planned to enjoy it. Chucking her phone back into her bag she walked into her first intended destination on her self 'date' day. It didn't take her too long to pick a colour to have her nails painted and not long later she had virtually perfect jade coloured nails.
For normal people a day off consisted of a lazy day in but Sandra planned to do all of the stuff which she normally had no time for. Second on her 'to-do list' was shopping, she usually hated clothes shopping but when it came to office clothing she loved it. Walking first towards the dresses she set her eyes on a chocolate brown dress and instantly fell in love with it.
Another reason, other than the fact she was a workaholic, that she didn't do days off was that she always ended up spending a small fortune and today was no exception. In her basket she now had the chocolate dress and the same top in indigo, mauve and magenta, to add to that she'd bought a pair of mustard yellow shoes. Usually she'd have been able to resist the shoes but they went extremely well with her new dress so after the shopping spree and having her nails down she was now £200 down poorer than when she woke up. Money wasn't important to her though, it wasn't as if she had anyone else to spend it on, as long as she had enough for a brand new convertible every six months.
After a day to herself she was now satisfied with everything and would be until her next day off.
