E/O Challenge: Clear. 'Of Winchesters and Water Horses' two 100-word drabbles. Thanks to their reputation the brothers' first international adventure almost comes to an end before it starts, before a run-in with a famous beastie. Set whenever you like, no spoilers!

Of Winchesters and Water Horses

The UK Border Agency official inspected the passports in front of him.

"Look, it's clear you're really the Winchesters and while Her Majesty's Government would normally welcome your contribution to the safety of its subjects, I'm afraid given the current financial climate we need to protect tourist revenues.

"The National Trust's already terrified you might visit the Tower of London or Stonehenge,

"And the RSPCA's asked you be denied entry."

"Huh?"

"To protect the Beast of Bodmin and Nessie, apparently. And Black Dogs are an endangered species, y'know?"

Dean's stomach twisted at the thought of getting back on the flight.

A/N: Somehow they snuck into the UK anyway...

A dreadful, slurping noise echoed across the mysterious, dark waters of the Loch.

"Argh! Get it off, get it offa me!" Dean screamed, the shrill note of terror sounded as clear as day in his voice.

Sam ran at full pelt through the darkness as images of his brother being ripped apart and eaten by a hideous creature flashed through his mind.

He arrived just in time to see the happy plesiosaur give his brother another friendly, slobbering lick across the face.

"Och, I think she likes you!" Sam laughed, as the monster rolled onto her back for tummy tickling.

Happy Birthday to Tribble Master and PaulatheCat – less angsty, humorous, Nessie "fighting" as requested!

Water Horse is another name for a Kelpie, traditionally believed to be the origin of some Loch Ness Monster legends. If Nessie's a dinosaur then plesiosaur is considered a good bet, although apparently all the cool fringe scientists now think she's more likely a basilosaurus which is a mammal and a kind of early whale.

The Tower of London is managed by Historic Royal Palaces, and Stonehenge by English Heritage, not the National Trust (although they do manage the area around Stonehenge). I thought The National Trust would be more recognisable.

RSPCA is the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - I'm not aware of their stance on cryptozoological animals ("cryptids") or the endangered status of phantom black dogs.
