"Diamonds don't keep you warm at night"

They turned and walked out of the hotel suite. After they were back in the SUV and Alex turned onto the street she said to Bobby, "Diamonds might not keep you warm at night, but I'd take them over a guy like Carl Atwood any day."

Bobby was hesitant to ask since they hadn't been partners very long and didn't spend much time talking about personal things but curiosity got the better of him. "What about between the diamonds and your late husband."

She was quiet for several miles so he thought that he had screwed up big time and was about to apologize when she turned her head to look at him at a stop light. "That...is a good question. I'll have to give it some thought and get back to you on it."
