She looked beautiful, an angel in white silk. So much like her mother all those years ago.
It wasn't supposed to be the man who cried. It was the mother, the aunts, the cousins. True enough, Fleur was crying, along with Mum, but why did he feel the sudden urge to cry?
"Daddy?" she asked him.
"Yes?" he responded, picking up his three year old daughter. "Is it…is it bad to cry?" she looked confused.
"No. Why, honey?"
"Teddy was crying, but when I asked him why, he said he wasn't, because it's babyish to cry." "Victoire, it is perfectly okay to cry. Everyone does. Teddy is just to young to know that." "But I'm younger than him."
"Yes, well, it's a known fact girls mature faster than boys."
He couldn't believe she was getting married. His little girl was getting married.
He remembered back when she didn't want to get married – back when she was too young to be interested in any boy besides her father or brother.
"Do I have to get married, Daddy?" and now four year old Victoire asked.
"No honey. You don't. Why?" he was a bit surprised by this question.
"Well, you're married, and so is all my aunties and uncles, except for Uncle Charlie. But he's a boy, so I was wondering if girls had to get married but boys didn't."
"Hon, you don't have to do anything you don't want to." And then realizing how that sounded, he added, "Unless your mom or I tell you to."
"Oh. Daddy? If I do get married, can I marry you?"
He chuckled. "Sure, Vicky. But I bet you won't want to. I bet you'll find a guy perfect for you. And if he isn't, I'll take care of him."
"You ready?" he asked Victoire. She nodded, smiling brightly.
He took her arm and walked her down the isle towards Teddy Lupin.
"So, when am I going to meet this boyfriend of yours?" Victoire had dated lots of boys, but they usually quit dating her after they met Bill, a fact he quite enjoyed. Unless of course, Victoire dumped them first.
"You already have." That comment threw him off.
"What, are you re-dating a boy?" She shook her head no. "Then who?" he was confused.
"Teddy. You know, Teddy Lupin?"
"You're dating Teddy Lupin!" Bill y roared.
"Yeah, I'm surprised you didn't know. I thought James would have told everyone he caught us snogging." She said it like it didn't matter.
"You were SNOGGING him, too!"
"Yeah, Dad, it's kind of what boyfriends and girlfriends do."
As he handed his daughter off, he kissed her check.
"I love you, Vicky." He said.
"I'll always love you, Dad."
He watched her turn to Teddy, looking so happy, and he knew it would be okay.
"Daddy?" she walked up to him. "Yes, Victoire." He said. "I love you. I always will. Me marrying Teddy won't change that."
"I know, Vicky. I love you more than you'll ever know."
