"Mall, come on we'll sign up later!" I said.

"I have to sign up now!" snapped Mallory.

I dragged her away from the signup sheet, so she wouldn't be tempted.

"Lexi! I wanted to sign up!" Mallory whined.

"Hate to break it to you, but 85% of the girls at East High have already signed up. The chances of you getting picked for the lead, or any role, are VERY slim. Emphasis on VERY." I replied.

Mallory sighed and grabbed her purse.

"I just wanted to show Sharpay up for once, you know?" Mallory said.

"Yeah, I get it."

"Alert.", Mall said.

Liam walked by. I put my head down and looked away, trying to get him not to see me.

"Oh, hey babe, didn't see you there." He left his football crowd to walk over to me.

He swept my hand up in a scooping gesture, gripping onto it tightly.

I looked at him and forced a smile.

Mallory walked about 5 feet behind us.

"So, dinner?" he asked, almost a begging tone to his voice.

"Um, I'm not feeling real well." I said, lying.

Mallory scoffed from behind. I turned my head and gave her a look.

"Okay. Hope you feel better."

He gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"Bye. Love you."

"Love you too." I said, half-heartedly.

"Just break up with him!" Mall said.

"But he's not a jerk to me. He's nice." I said.

Mallory looked at me. "I know you like Luke."

"Shut up! I don't want anyone to know!"

"Sorry." She lied.
