"Oryaaaa!" Kagura struck Sougo's side with her umbrella, sending him flying into a nearby building, clouds of dust billowing from the remains of the wall.
"Oi, China, that all you got?" Sougo emerged from the haze, mostly unharmed, save for a trickle of blood down his face, wearing a sadistic grin that always appeared every time they fought.
"No, but it caught you by surprise, yes?" Kagura was enjoying herself as well; there were few people who could deal with her full strength. With a sudden burst of speed, Sougo was before her again, his sword mid swing. Kagura just managed to block in time, but was pushed back, stopping when she met a wall.
No escape! Kagura glanced back in panic, only to find herself face to face with the sadist when she turned back around, his sword brushing against her throat, his arm next to her head as he leaned against the wall.
So close, Kagura thought, as she felt a slight heat in her cheeks.
"Looks like I win this one, huh, China?" Sougo grinned, "Now, just admit your defeat.".
"Never, you stupid sadist!" Kagura shouted, although she knew that she couldn't escape. Even so, the thought of admitting defeat was too much, especially considering the pleasure it gave to her sparring partner.
"Hmm~, you think you can still do something in this position?" Sougo's face loomed closer, centimetres from touching Kagura's.
Thump! Kagura blushed even more. Wait, why am I reacting like this? To this... this stupid sadist? This doesn't happen when I'm close to Gin-chan or Shinpachi, or any other person. I don't understand. Kagura pushed at Sougo in a futile attempt to increase the distance between them, trying to alleviate her embarrassment.
"Hey, you've gone red. Is being beaten by me that humiliating?" Sougo's grin widened.
"G-Get off me, you stupid sadist! You just got lucky, yes?!" Ahh, my heart's pounding and my face feels hot. I need to get away from him, but I can't admit defeat... "I would rather die than admit that I was beaten by you!"
Sougo's eyes lit up, "Oh? That could easily be arranged." Kagura felt the cold steel of his blade pressing down on her neck, a stark contrast to the fire in her cheeks.
"Oi, Sougo! Quit slacking, we have work to do!" Hijikata's voice sounded across the street, a welcome sound to the flustered Yato girl.
"Tch." Annoyance flickered across the sadist's face, as he turned to look at the vice-chief of the Shinsengumi, "Fine.".
Sougo turned to look at Kagura, the evil grin lighting his face again, "We'll continue this later, China.". With that, Sougo sheathed his sword and left to patrol with Hijikata, leaving Kagura to exhale in relief, and slide down the wall to sit. She stared at the floor, attempting to untangle the mess of her feelings.
Am I going to die? Why else would I feel like that? I've never felt like that before, that's the only thing that makes sense. I must have a heart problem or something, yes? Maybe I'll ask Gin-chan, he'll probably know... Kagura's cheeks reddened again. Ah, but for some reason, that seems really embarrassing, yes? I might ask Tsukki instead.
Kagura stood up. Right, I should get back.
