DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN HIMYM.
Short Barney/Robin drabble. So I'm like yeah, I wrote this just now in approximately 3 minutes, and it kind of sucks, but Barney and Robin frustrate me so much at the moment, I just had to write it. I don't know what's going on in Robin's head at all. Someone fill me in, please...?
It all went wrong. Somewhere, she doesn't really know where.
She knows it doesn't make sense, nothing does, but she likes him. Of course she does. They're friends, aren't they? At least she hopes so.
Seeing them together isn't what she thought it would be. It doesn't hurt or ache like she thought it would, it just feels... dull. Colours turn into grey and the sun refuses to warm her skin. The bitter taste of her morning coffee no longer gives her the energy it used to and her gun, even her lovely gun won't satisfy her burning anger.
There's something inside her that refuses to leave. She worries for him when he is not around and she smiles when he is happy, she can't help it. She can't tell if he is happy though, not anymore. Everything is distant, even he is. Those fleeting looks won't reveal a single thing and she finds herself wishing he would talk to her like he used to. Like friends do. She does not like this awkwardness, it was never there before, was it? Are they slowly growing apart?
His expression is unreadable as his eyes finally meet hers and suddenly her heart swells and tears form in her eyes because she hates this feeling, this feeling that she is slowly losing him. To her.
This is not what she wanted, she finally realizes. It's too late though. She watches as he walks off hand in hand with Nora. She misses him. Every day, she misses him.
