"No, no, no! Your doing it wrong! Here, hold it like this." Instructed Pinako as she assisted Winry in the correct way of holding the wrench in her hands.
"Good now, arch your arm back and –
"But, I don't see how –
"Don't interrupt! You need complete concentration." Winry rolled her eyes thinking that the whole situation was trivial. Pinako caught her line of the thought and corrected her.
"I know you don't understand now, but someday you'll thank me for this." But that didn't comfort Winry at all, if anything it just made her feel more ridiculous.
'I was always taught to respect your tools…but then again, I never knew that throwing wrenches was an art.' Winry was brought out of her musings by Pinako's command.
"As I was saying, arch your arm back and hold the wrench between these two fingers. Good." Winry sighed.
"How long is this going to take?" Pinako studied her for a moment before replying,
"With your kind of attitude, it could take all day-
"What!"
Pinako gave her a sharp look that left Winry mumbling under her breath.
"If you're finished. Use your fist to hold it in place. No! Like this, see?" Pinako demonstrated by striking a peculiar pose and slowly shifting the wrench in front of her as if to throw it.
"See how I let the motion roll into my wrist?" Winry nodded urging her to finish.
"Then you bring it out in front of you and –
Swoosh
Pinako threw the wrench so fast that Winry couldn't see the entire motion. The wrench went flying through the air at an amazing speed and was met halfway by a dummies head.
"Wow" Winry whispered. She was secretly impressed with her grandmother's skill, but didn't want Pinako to notice her excitement at such a petty matter.
"That was one of the more basic moves. I'll teach you a more advanced technique when you're older."
Winry didn't know how to reply, feeling stupid at her own reaction to such a 'basic move'. So she turned her head to catch sight of the stuffed dummy at the bottom of the hill. It was flat on its back.
Winry was sure that if it had been a real person, he would be unconscious. She looked back just in time to see her grandmother signaling for her to go fetch the wrench.
Winry sighed and trotted down the hill, while Pinako stood atop in a proud stance, silently boasting her accomplishment..
At first Pinako had been afraid that Winry wouldn't want to continue the Rockbell tradition in wrench throwing. However, her fears were put to rest when Winry came up the hill with the discarded tool intact, saying,
"That was amazing, can I try now?"
