Summary: On a cold winter night, usually Spencer was found at the office or at his home, reading something or catching up on paperwork, but tonight, he was just content to sit by the fire with Derek.

The fire was crackling in the fireplace, giving the area around it warmth and a soft glow that seemed to be the only light in the house. The only two occupants were Derek Morgan, the owner of said house and fire, and his brilliant lover, and resident Boy Wonder, Spencer Reid. Spencer was huddled on the couch, a book in his hands, and Derek was making himself busy in the kitchen, making two cups of hot cocoa.
They'd both had a difficult week, dealing with a difficult case and an even more difficult Hotch. Though lucky for them Rossi had been able to keep Hotch subdued most of the time. The entire team knew that the two were in a committed relationship and because of this Derek was convinced Rossi'd been playing dirty, Spencer wasn't quite so sure and his theory was a more simpler one, one that didn't involve sex and more-so involved the fact that they loved one another.
Spencer looked up from his book when he saw Derek's shadow and he smiled, taking the offered cup of cocoa. "Thank you," he said when Derek took his book and set it on the side table. Derek didn't say anything as he did so, and instead sat his own cup on the table in front of the couch before sitting down beside the younger man. He wrapped the blanket around them when Spencer got comfortable against him and he kissed the top of Spencer's hair.
"You know I love you, right?" Derek hummed and Spencer nodded, looking up.
"Of course," he answered with another smile, though a little uncertain. "What's wrong, Derek?" He asked and Derek shook his head.
"Nothing you need to worry your pretty little head, about, baby boy." Derek murmured, kissing him and Spencer could only kiss back, pleased, but still a little confused. But he had to pull back, though reluctantly.
"No, come on, what's wrong?" He prodded, pulling back again when Derek tried to distract him with another kiss. "Derek..."
"Okay, okay, no need to interrogate me, pretty boy." Derek said and sat back. "It's just..." he sighed, "I almost lost you again, to an unsub-"
"But you didn't," Spencer frowned, and Derek shook his head.
"-and I can't help but think that one day you won't be here with me." He finished, adamant and Spencer only smiled and kissed him.
"You shouldn't think like that. Because I'm here, and I'm safe, right where I belong." He quipped and Derek couldn't help but smirk a little, wrapping his arms around Spencer as the man settled against him again.
"Oh yeah? And where's that?" He teased, though he knew Spencer would answer anyway. And his answer would be as cheesy and as innocent and as romantic as it always would be, and the strangest and best part is, he wouldn't even realize what he said until Derek would smile and kiss him.
"Right here in your arms," and true enough, he did, and Derek did nothing but smile and kiss the genius, his heart swelling up with love.
"I love you, Spencer," he cooed and Spencer blushed, ducking his head before snuggling against him, enjoying the warmth and comfort.
"Love you too, Derek."
