If you don't know what that is, it's the name of a band that made a song called Ghost, that a youtuber named Mysteryben27 animated. This fic is about the characters in the animated version, I own nothing, hope you enjoy! CleoDaDalek OUT!
Arthur awoke to a loud ringing sound coming from the middle of the room. He groped in the dark, trying to find his phone, but it was hard to do with one arm. Likewise, he couldn't find the bedside table either.
Having his face pushed into his pillow, Arthur managed to speak. "Vivi, can you get the phone?" After a few moments of silence, besides the ringing of the phone, he sat up lazily from his designated hotel bed.
Vivi squinted at the clock as she processed reality. 2 Am. "For goodness sakes, who would be calling at this hour? And why can't you get the phone, it's closer to you anyway." Vivi rolled out of her bed grumpily as the phone continued its obnoxious tone.
"Because I drove us to the hotel last night, since we're on a case you chose. And on top of that-" Arthur was cut off as Vivi picked up the phone.
"Hello? This is Vivi, to whom am I speaking?" A small pause.
"Who is it?" Arthur asked, curious.
"Shh, I'm talking!" In the corner of the room, Mystery stirred, groggily wondering what the commotion was.
"I see. Where is this?" Vivi's outline in the dark looked impatient. "I understand. We'll be right on it." Another pause. "No problem. We'll be there as soon as we can. You too, bye."
"Who was that?" Arthur asked when Vivi hung up the phone.
"We've got a case. Well, sort of." Vivi's tone sounded annoyed.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Arthur was baffled. "And where's Lewis? Isn't he supposed to be here?" Vivi looked at him with a disappointed face.
"Well, that's the sort of." Vivi still wasn't making any sense. "Also, our clients think we have a legitimate case."
"What are you talking about? You mean Lewis is a part of it?" Vivi nodded. His expression became just as impatient and disappointing as Vivi's as the lightbulb went off in his head. "Again?"
Arthur sighed as Vivi bobbed her head up and down while she turned on the lamp in-between them. Mystery climbed up onto Arthur's lap to reassure him that the he was finally up. "What is it, Thursday? And it's been like, four, five times this week alone?" Arthur paused his ranting to grab his metal arm. As he was rejoining it with his shoulder, Vivi picked up where he left off.
"This time it's the park downtown; you know, the one with the cute gazebo?" Vivi let out a long sigh. "Well, the people there are kind of freaking out, so we had better get a move on."
After taking turns in the hotel bathroom and awkwardly getting ready to go out, as they had to be quiet, they finally got buckled into their van by the time the clock read 2:45. Arthur got into the driver's seat and put the key into the ignition.
"So, what kind of things are we looking for?" Arthur asked as he pulled out of the parking lot and onto the open road.
"Nothing too special, just his usual. I would keep a lookout for pink and purple."
"Good idea."
Arthur and Vivi were silent as the Mystery Skulls gang, minus one, were heading towards the park. Mystery climbed up onto Vivi's lap to warm up. It was cold outside, and the broken heater wasn't doing any better on this particular night.
Lewis watched in amusement as his deadbeats circled around some of the locals. Who know haunting could be so much fun? The ghost's minions surrounded a male who looked drunk, probably attempting to go home after the bar closed.
"Wh-who are you?" The drunk asked, too horrified to slur his words, instead stuttering. "What d-do you want w-with me?"
Instead of replying, the deadbeats just circled around him faster, letting out a bone-chilling scream that made the man faint out of sheer terror. Or possibly drunken dizziness. Lewis summoned his minions to him so they could receive new orders.
A teenage boy, about sixteen, was sitting in the park gazebo, having escaped curfew.
"Hey, minions," the purple skeleton drew the deadbeats to attention. "In the gazebo; go for it."
The purple sheet-ghosts floated over to the wooden structure, soon surrounding it. With their golden hearts beating, they started singing Lewis's back up melody. With no chorus or background beat, the resulting sound was like horror film soundtrack.
The teen jumped where he sat, surprised and confused at the strange and eerie noise all around him. "Wh-who's there?" The adolescent cautiously crept up, looking around for the origin of the strange music. Then the ghosts jumped at him.
Lewis chuckled to himself, never had he seen such terror on one man's face. Well, that wasn't exactly true. He had seen it once. The skeleton felt a brief moment of regret for haunting the boy. He looked… familiar. This man, teenager, reminded Lewis of the one-armed mechanic.
"On second thought," decided Lewis, "Come on back, leave the teen." The deadbeats stopped singing and looked over at the fickle ghost with confused faces.
Lewis glared at his minions, who were regretfully returning to the purple ghost. Soon, they were all floating in front of the skeleton, awaiting new orders.
"Over there, where that tree is. See that? Go scare her." Lewis commanded the deadbeats to a woman in about her forties hiding behind a tree.
As Lewis's minions eagerly floated towards the woman, she shook with fright. "Why are you doing this? What unfinished b-business do you have here?!" Her voice sounded horrified. All the more reason that Lewis kept his spree up.
The flame-haired ghost saw one of his deadbeats trip her with a smile on its face. Deciding that his minions couldn't have all the fun, he made his way toward the female.
Lewis disappeared and floated in front of the oblivious yet already terrified woman. He motioned his deadbeats to retreat as she got back up.
Just as the woman had regained some of the color in her face, Lewis revealed himself in all his terrifying glory. She stopped dead in her tracks, letting out a high-pitched scream as the color drained from her face once again. Then she ran.
Lewis loved it when they ran. That meant he could give chase before terrifying the living crap out of his victims. He followed after her with a look he had been practicing since he plotted revenge against Arthur.
By now, the woman was running out of breath. She couldn't last much longer, cueing Lewis to disappear once more.
His invisible form floated just a foot or two from the female, who was breathing heavily, looking around for the ghost which had chased her. Lewis got even closer, just a few inches from her left ear. He mustered the most sinister tone he could manage and turned visible.
"Boo." She fell over with fright as magenta mist surrounded the well-dressed skeleton, who was laughing manically from his scare. "Two faints, nine screams, and five color drains in one night. I think that's a new record." Lewis mumbled to himself as he returned to the park, leaving the unconscious woman. He knew he shouldn't be haunting for no good reason, but her couldn't help it. It was just so… addicting.
Arthur parked the Mystery Van on the side of the road when they reached the park. "There!" pointed Vivi, who's finger was aimed at some people looking like the living daylight had been scared out of them.
"We better ask them if they saw a-" Arthur cut himself off when he noticed magenta mist forming around one poor unfortunate person. Vivi and Arthur looked at the victim and then at each other. "Lewis!" They both shouted in sync.
