Hi, this is my first fanfic in years so please no flames, although constructive criticism is always welcome!:) Based off of the imagineyourotp prompt: "Imagine person A of your otp is going off to war. After two years, person B is sitting on the couch watching TV when their eyes get covered and when they turn around, they see person A in uniform smiling widely behind them. Person B starts crying and gives person A a hug."
Here we go!
You Come Back to Me
Lissa Dragomir plopped on the couch, idly eating chips and channel surfing. She paused when she saw a woman hugging a man in uniform biting back tears. They exchange I love yous, and the man kisses the woman gently on the forehead before leaving. "Hmph," Lissa grumbled to herself. "It is not that romantic."
Two Years Earlier…
Her face was buried in his broad chest, and she was gently shaking. His strong arms were around her waist, trying to steady her and playing with the ends of her blonde hair.
"I don't want you to go," Lissa said, although muffled by her fiancé, Christian Ozera's chest.
"I don't want to leave you either," he said as he held her tighter. "But I have to."
Being only 18 when they got engaged, much to the dismay of their families, Christian had joined the army in order to provide for his future wife. Presently, she sniffled.
"Be careful. Be so, so careful. You come back to me, you hear me?"
He chuckled, his blue eyes shining with tears. "I hear you. I'll come back."
He kissed her and Lissa kissed back eagerly, her hands gripping both sides of his face and hanging on for dear life. He started to deepen the kiss, but it was time for him to board the plane.
"I'll see you soon, baby. I love you." He said softly.
"I love you too. See you soon." He walked off without another word.
Now…
Lissa kept channel surfing when suddenly everything went dark and she felt pressure over her eyes, as if someone were covering them. She screamed and turned around, holding the remote like a a baseball bat to defend herself.
There, standing in his army uniform, was Christian.
It took a few minutes a for Lissa to register what was happening, but as soon as she did, she reached out and gently touched his cheek.
"I can't believe it…you're really here," she whispered.
"I'm really here," he repeated while still smiling.
"This isn't a dream."
"No, it's not."
She started to cry and jumped over the couch and into his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist. He caught her, but stumbled a few steps back as she peppered his face with kisses.
"Did you miss me, then?" he chuckled.
"Of course! Didn't you?"
"Of course," he replied as he kissed her deeply. She kissed him back, and they made their way to the bedroom so they could make up for lost time.
