Author's Note: So I actually wrote a while ago (Christmas break... okay, maybe not so long ago, but it certainly seems that way!) and I wasn't able to post it cause I wasn't home, and then I came home and forgot all about it. (Oops) So this morning (actually, I guess it's afternoon now) and suddenly I remembered this poem, and I'm like, "Where did it go?" so I flipped through my notebook, only to discover it was in my other notebook, and then I had to hunt everywhere in my room for it (not an easy task with a broken leg) and finally I found it tucked inside a binder inside my cupboard (good for me for finding it though, eh?). So now you get to see why I like it so much!
And this is from Digory's POV, soon after the events of MN, during the time when he's still at his aunt and uncle's house while his mother is getting better.
And now that my A/N is almost certainly longer than my actually poem (oops), you can read the poem itself. Enjoy!
The tree grows
It sways
It dances in the wind
And here I sit at my kitchen window, watching
Watching my tree
And as it grows
So do I
As it grows taller
As it branches out its leafy splendour
As it grows the shining apples
I grow too
Years, it's been
Since first I planted my apple tree
My Narnian tree
But still it knows its home
And still it sways
Though no wind blows
As if it calls to its mother tree
The Guardian tree
The true Narnian tree
Aslan's living shield
Of that land
Perhaps my tree
Deep in its magic sap
Yearns for its home
As do I
But here we stay together
Growing
My tree and I
Together
And I'd love a review to let me know what you think!
