There's a New Trainer in Town

"Wake up Ashley, wake up!"

"Five more minutes mom…"

"It's Yellow NOW WAKE UP!"

I jumped out of my bed and landed with a hard thump on the floor. I rolled onto my back to give Yellow the best death glare I could muster.

"C'mon don't look at me like that. Today's the day we go see Professor Rowan!"

I snapped my eyes open, suddenly alert.

"I forgot! Let's go!"

"That's what I've been trying to do!" Yellow exclaimed as he ran out of the room. His voice echoed up the stairs, "I'm fining you 1 million if you're late!"

I took a glance around my room. My T.V. was turned off, my Wii right beside it. My bed was rumpled from my fall, and my desk was messy as usual. I ran over to my desk to grab some supplies. I grabbed a book, some snacks, and a few cans of cola. I shoved the items into my bag, slung it over my shoulder, and ran down the stairs and out the door.

"Took you long enough Ashley," Stated Yellow as he walked out of our small town and towards the tall grass.

"Yellow, aren't wild pokemon in the tall grass? What if they attack us?"

"They won't! If we run they won't even be able to get us!"

Just as Yellow was about to take off we heard a stern voice from behind us.

"Stop!"

Yellow and I turned around to face an old man. He was probably in his fifties or sixties. He had white hair and a small white beard.

"What were you two thinking going into the grass without any Pokemon!?!"

"Well you see," Yellow explained "We were going to see you to get some Pokemon professor."

"Do you truly love Pokemon?"

"Yes!" We answered in unison.

"Really?"

"Our answer won't change no matter how many times you ask us," Said Yellow.

"Well you were about to endanger yourselves by going into the tall grass just now."
"I was going to but at least give one to my friend. She didn't want too!"

The professor examined us for a bit longer. Then he opened a briefcase that he had with him. The case contained three Pokeballs. I took it that we were supposed to take a pokeball. I chose the one on the far left, while Yellow chose the one in the middle.

"Nice choices. Come see me in my lab sometime. It's in the next town over."

With that he left. Then Yellow gave me 'the look'.

"Ready?"

"Hope so."

We threw out our new pokeballs to reveal a Turtwig and a Chimchar.

"Attack with tackle Turtwig!" I yelled.

"Growl Chimchar!"

"Keep attacking it!"

"Dodge Chimchar!"

My new Turtwig masterfully blocked Chimchar's attempts and dodging. It continued to hammer it with tackles until it fainted.

"Good job Turtwig!"

I ran to my new Turtwig, scooping it up in my arms.

"Good game Ashley!"

"You too Yellow!"

I went home to show off my new Turtwig. Once we were rested we headed to see Rowan. On the way out my mom gave me some new shoes. Running shoes I guess. Now for the first time, I went into the tall grass.
