"Ran-neechan, how many cases have been solved by either Kogoro-Ojisan or the Detective Boys in the last year?" Conan asked suddenly, a concerned and confused look on his face.
"Hmm… I think about 750, maybe more, maybe less." Ran answered nonchalantly.
"How is that possible?" Conan asked.
"Yeah, it is a lot of cases." She agreed, not catching Conan's drift.
"No, I meant, how can we have solved 750 cases in under a year? How can we still have free time when we should have at least one crime to solve every day, usually more? How can Tokyo not be in a state of emergency when at least one third of Japan's average murder rate is centered in one city?" The shrunken sleuth elaborated.
Ran just sat still a moment, looking stunned. After a couple moments she answered, "Now that I think about it, haven't there been, like what, 20 seasonal rotations? Shouldn't I be as old as my father right now?"
"Do you know how long it's been like this?" Conan asked.
"Yeah, about the time you moved in… or the time Shinichi disappeared… or the time Otosan because the Sleeping Kogoro…" Ran answered after thinking for a moment.
"Hmm… it'll probably resolve itself." Conan decided, "We probably shouldn't think about it much."
"Agreed." Sighed Ran after thinking for a moment.
