"Okay, now here's your corn chowder, burger--with no mustard, and a side of chips." I said, placing his bowl and plate in front of him. "And you're got a nice, tall glass of milk to go with it."

I wanted to see him taste both sets of food. First he tried a spoon full of the corn chowder. He began to taste it, and to my luck, he liked it. The expression on his face told me everything,

"Mmm, this is really good, Haley. Very nice!" Matt complimented me. He took a swig of his milk then tried his burger. After a minute, he liked that as well. "...Mm, wow, you nailed it. Definitely impressed with how you cooked it just the way I like it. And nice touch with no mustard. Haha."

I was liking where this was going. After a week of preparing meals for the Hardy family, they seemed to like what I was coming up with. I was excited because if I got to work with them, that means I'll finally be on my feet with the job that I've always wanted to do.

"Well, I'm glad you liked it, I definitely tried my best." I said. "Do I pass the test?"

In a way, I didn't want to sound too unprofessional, but I was just so eagar to know.

He got up from his chair and walked up to me. "Well, I think after a week of cookin' us some meals and doing everything you can to make sure we're all satisfied; hmm, well yeah, I think you do."

"I'm hired?"

"You're hired."

"Oh wow, thank you, Mr. Hardy!" I said, in a happy, very grateful voice. "I appreciate this so much. So when will you need me to come by again? Tomorrow?"

"Actually, can we try for next week?" he bargoned. "You see, my father Gil and my girlfriend Ashley aren't the only ones that are in my family. My brother and of course, our two friends Shannon and Greg will be back soon. I was hoping you could meet them too."

"Oh, that won't be a problem." I shook my head.

"Alright, so I'll see you next Monday?"

"That's perfect, I'll be home then."

"Okay, I'll call you when I can."

"Yes sir." I said, as I began to collect my things and head to the door. "Thanks again, Mr. Hardy."

"Not a problem." he said. "Oh, and Haley?"

"Yes?"

"Call me Matt."
