Akito stared with lifeless eyes out into the dimly lit room. What she saw though was not the dreary, unpainted walls, but thousands of memories displayed before her eyes. It was almost as if she was there again, reliving the past. A flash of movement revealed itself to her as she attacked Hatori in a blind rage. Then suddenly, she was standing in the doorway, watching Yuki's terrified expression as she locked him in the dark room. Kisa, Kyo, Momiji, Tohru, Rin, all with horrified faces as their figures appeared before her. Akito let out a strangled cry and huddled herself in the corner, shaking. What had she done to all of these people? Not just any people either, but her family. They hadn't deserved any of this, and neither did she deserve the forgiveness they so easily gave her. She tried to shut her eyes tightly and make it disappear, but it was no use. She saw it over and over again, replaying in her head like a broken record. Tears ran down her face and she hugged her legs to her chest. Why did she ever think that what she was doing was right? Akito could see the answer surfacing even as she though of it. It was a terrible truth, but she had been simply lonely and scared of being left behind. It was something she couldn't control, something that had been implanted in her mind ever since she was little. She had no right to do those things, but she saw it now.

Akito waited in the silence, breathing in and out slowly to calm herself down. She still saw the images, but they soon slowly started to fade. Realizing she was about to fall asleep, she gently closed her eyes.

She soon woke again to a pounding in her head. She was startled to find herself shaking again, and sweat running down her forehead. What she didn't notice, however, was the person standing over her. He bent down and that was when the figure caught her attention. She looked at him weakly, recognizing it to be Shigure.

"I'm sorry for being gone so long," he whispered gently. He moved closer to plant a soft kiss on the top of her head. He sat down beside her and Akito let out a small smile, no longer feeling vulnerable and alone with his presence. She rested her head on his shoulder and noticed that she wasn't shaking anymore. He put his head on hers and hummed softly. Akito felt her eyes slowly start to drift close again, and she yawned. Before falling asleep, she thought of one thing. She may be haunted with nightmares, but as long as she had someone beside her they would soon start to fade.
