Ginny Potter opened her eyes and squinted into the darkness of her very own bedroom. She listened for any sounds coming from her children's bedrooms. She slid out of bed and with one sweep down the hallway next to their bedroom she assured herself that her children were just fine. Most nights always ended up this way. The nightmares and flashbacks of the battle left her frantically trying to reassure herself that everything and everyone was fine.

When she returned, she could barely make out her husband's sleeping body, but she could feel his warmth radiating from under their shared blanket. She moved closer to Harry and ran a hand across his arm and grabbed his hand. His hands were rough from the days of working as an Auror and dry from the winter's chill. The skin was cracked and weathered, but she held his hand like it was a lifesaver. He was the only one who could take the nightmares away. The Chosen One himself. How had she gotten so lucky? She smiled as he sighed in his sleep. He was so peaceful when he was sleeping. Unlike when he was awake, the lines that had begun to show on his face smoothed out and Ginny could see the old Harry. When he was sleeping, she could see the same boy who knew nothing of the wizarding world but showed up at The Burrow just like he belonged there.

Ginny ran her hand over one of the many scars that reminded her of their shared past. She felt the outline of the words as if they were just carved there yesterday. Those five words, "I must not tell lies," had become another piece of the past for Harry. For Ginny, however, they were just a reminder of one of the many reasons she loved him so much. This man lying beside her was willing to endure whatever was necessary to achieve his dreams. This man saved the entire magical community and didn't even complain once. This man was truly a hero.

She felt his muscles tense. She must have woken him up. "Ginny? Are you okay? Is everything alright? Did you have the nightmare again?" he murmured as he turned towards her. "Yes, Harry. It was the same one." She replied. He wrapped her in his arms. "You know I would do anything to protect you and our children." He whispered. She smiled because she knew that it was true. Ginny knew that this was the man that was constantly exceeding her expectations. She kissed his lips and they drifted off together with their hands intertwined.
