This is a one shot fiction. It's my take on what happened on after Clark got sucked into the cave wall. Hope you enjoy it.

------------------------

"Leave my father alone!" he screamed

Come forward or he will die.

His father was lying on the ground with a seemingly glowing rope around his neck.

His birth father's voice was more urgent this time

Come to me, Kal-El.

Jonathan Kent yelled out to his son, "Clark! I've lived a full life, son! Jor-El can do whatever he wants to do to me as long as you're free!

"I'll never be free!" he shouted back in response.

"Clark! No!" Jonthan begged, the fear evident in his voice.

Clark turned back towards the wall. He could feel a force begin to pull him in. He became scared and tried desperately to get away from it. He looses the battle as his entire being is sucked into the wall.

----------------------

Kal-El, my son.

Clark raised his head and looked around.

Now you shall be reborn.

He shivered with fear and cold, for he had no clothes on. He squeezed his eyes tightly shut. He felt a gust of wind; similar to that he felt when he was inside of the tornado. When he opened his eyes again he was shocked at his surroundings.

He was on a plain where the ground was parched and cracked, as if from lack of rain. Everything was dark and there were no stars in the sky. He shivered for he was still naked.

Now you shall be re-born.

"Let me go home," he pleaded with the voice.

Kal-el, we love you, your mother and I, and we have no desire to hurt you but you must embrace your destiny.

"My destiny is whatever I choose for it to be," he screamed angrily.

You must accept this or everyone you love will suffer.

He remembered his father in the cave. "My father, is he alive?"

For now.

"Let me go home!"

You will embrace your destiny, my son.

"I'm never going to do anything you want," he yelled defiantly. A gust of icy wind flew out of the darkness of the sky engulfing him. He screamed from the agony of it as the cold turned to fire and consumed him. After a minute or so it went away and he was shocked to find himself on the ground, totally unharmed, but panting heavily.

You will embrace your destiny.

"No!" he yelled once again.

Then you leave me no choice. Everyone you love will die. As we speak three of your loved ones lie in a position to die. Do you want to be the hand that kills them?

"No, don't hurt them! This isn't about them," he pleaded.

I will do what it takes to ensure that our great race continues.

"The great race that destroyed itself!"

Your friends grow closer to death by the second. Indeed the bald one will die within a matter of minutes. The yellow-haired one will soon walk into a trap. Your cooperation will ensure her safety or death. Jonathan Kent stands to die at any time.

"No, stop it!"

Time is winding down for them, Kal-el.

"No!"

The yellow-haired one goes to her fate as we speak. A few more precious moments and the bald one will be dead. You've run out of time, my son. If you refuse this, they will all die.

Clark looked up into the dark sky, his face damp with tears. He'd rather die than do this, but for his friends he would.

"If I go they'll be safe?" he questioned desperately.

You have my word.

"Take me."

The last thing he felt was a rush of wind and his body being swept from the ground. Kryptonian symbols flashed before him and then all became darkness.

Back on earth, Chloe Sullivan and her father were rushed under the safe house before it exploded. Jonathan Kent was found in the cave and his condition was stabilized at the hospital. Lex Luthor was found and the paramedics were called in time for him to survive. But Clark Kent was no where to be found.
