Author's note: Hey everyone, you know that friend that's ALWAYS singing? Whether it's Pop or musical theater or Disney songs? Most of my friends are like that and so am I. Laurens is my favorite out of the four because he seems like the leader. Alexander's closest friend, the best man at his wedding and with all the solos too. In a My Shot animatic I noted that toward the end he seemed tired and less animated (so to speak), so this fanfic explains why. Do expect some shipping, Laurayette to be exact!

This video was done by MarzyMeh and I'd like to give them credit and compliment their animating skills because this is my favorite animatic!

PS

I'm writing this when sleepy so I may sound serious for someone with my brand of insanity.

Also you'll have to imagine Lafayette's accent.

John Laurens was cold.

No that was an understatement. He was practically freezing.

He sat on a bench waiting for his carriage to arrive as an icy rain fell.

His formal coat offered no protection, even when he hugged himself the cold seemed to secure itself.

He was tired.

He could hardly think, all he wanted was to sleep in his warm bed.

But his carriage was already an hour late and the only people still out were Lafayette chatting with the bartenders as always.

His body gave a rather violent shiver, more of a jolt and he whimpered. Forget a bed, he wanted to sleep in a bonfire!

"Mon ami you look frozen half to death!"

Lauren's forced himself to look up, and found himself face to face with... "Mr. Lafayette. How ever did you make that observation?"

Normally he'd laugh, but exhaustion had put him in a bad mood.

"Oh I don't know, you're shaking like a leaf"

In response Laurens just groaned and put his head in his hands.

He was startled when Lafayette sat down and put an arm around him.

A feeling of warmth spread, from his shoulders, then his face. It felt good but... what was it?

He started to pull away but Lafayette's grip tightened. "Don't resist."

Instantly Lauren's instincts kicked in and he threw the frenchman's arm off, and spun off the bench.

"Wait!" Lafayette protested. "I didn't mean it like that!"

Laurens let out a shuddering breath, "Then what did you mean?"

The cold had returned with a vengeance but he was determined not to show it.

Lafayette put his hands up in surrender. "You were cold and I was warm. If I didn't share that warmth you probably would've frozen to death.

Laurens processed these words. He could hardly think. Every muscle in his body wanted to go back to the warmth, so he did.

"Sorry. I... I overreacted"

Lafayette hugged him again. "It's alright. It happens."

They stayed like that for a while. Laurens occasionally shivering, and Lafayette would hold him tighter. As if he was determined to keep Laurens safe from the cold.

After a while Lafayette's carriage arrived. He asked the driver "Did you see another carriage?" "No Monsieur. There were no other carriages out tonight."

"Alright Laurens you'll have to ride with moi-" He paused when he realized John Laurens was asleep!

"Poor thing..." Lafayette picked up his limp body and carried it toward the carriage.

"He will be staying with me tonight!" Lafayette announced gallantly.

As the carriage drove through the streets The Marquis de Lafayette couldn't help but wonder what was going on in Lauren's mind.
