Challenge word: slip
Warnings: Spoilers for the end of Season 6. As Castiel faces the Winchesters and Bobby, although the Apocalypse may have been averted again, the future is uncertain.
Castiel doesn't understand how it happened. How this infuriating, obstinate human managed to slip through all his angelic defences to take up residence inside his grace. He remembers Dean Winchester's harsh words hurting him despite centuries protected by armour so adamantine nothing could pierce it.
Now everything's changed. He is filled with so many souls there is no room for any Winchester, no room for family – human or divine. Castiel feels the power scouring him from the inside out, burning away useless feelings like love, and honour, and loyalty.
Until all that remains is the scorched earth of his soul.
Prepare your hearts for Death's cold hand! prepare
