The Doctor is not always right
Even a 900-year-old man can make mistakes
Like Donna's memory, to begin with...
Amy Pond and Donna Noble have been friends since an accident on their childhood: Amy was trying to defend Rory from some school fight and got hurt, in the same moment Donna-Temple Noble was taking her children to school. Donna quickly ran in the aid of the young girl. They have befriended each other in these 18 years of convivence. It was one of Amy's most normal friendships since the Doctor.
For some awkward reason, Donna never aged. This agelessness drawned attention from Amy's daughter, River Song. She had easily discovered that Donna Noble had previously being a companion of the Doctor in his tenth incarnation, and had to lose all memory of their travels in order to keep her life. River have been doing some therapy with her, so that Donna could remember partially what happened on those days.
The two redheads were on a park, talking about Donna's memories. River had left clear that, while Donna would be able to remember less dangerous parts of her travels, it would still look like a book, the story of another person...
"It feels like, instead of seeing the movie, i'm reading the synopsis... And i can't even remember everything; There are still paths on my mind that are either yet-to-access or unaccessible at all" Donna said "I remember that i came to Pompeii and begged the Doctor to save a family, i remember some sort of sisterhood and the Pyrovilles, but everything else is mist, i don't know if i can or not remember it. The same goes for my Time Lord mind during my last travels. And some are easier to remember"
"But some memories stayed in your subconscious" Amy said, calming Donna down "Like the name of your daughter Sarah-Jane; the Doctor told me about his most succesful companion, and she's still out there, fightning aliens. And the bedtime stories you used to tell to your son, different from most fairytales... Can i read your journal?"
The Adipose Industries
The fat-based aliens
The creepy woman Miss Foster
We were Partners in Crime
But i was pardoned for that Crime Scene
I saw massive slaveryThe Song of Captivity
The snowy Planet of the Ood
And the Doctor saved them for good
I saw fire in the sky
ATMOS poison in the cars
I saw the fightning of the
Sontaram Stratagem
That led to the Poison Sky
I now remember Agatha ChristieThe mysterious thief, the Unicorn
And the Wasp, The reverend
Was a Vespiform
The Fires of Pompeii
The Pyrovilles, the eye can't see
One single family, i plea
And everything else is mist
Then i see a One Last Run
The Children of Time
The Daleks all ran
Away. I saw Dalek Caan
He Walked Into the Wild and Fire
Danced and Died 1000 Times
I created the Three-Fold Man
I held glory
And i held gloom
And this was our Journey's End
Memento Quod Mori
Remember that we shall die
"That's deep, Donna" The younger readhead said, hugging her friend
A/N: If you searched for 'The War Games', a Second Doctor story, you will see that it's default Time Lord procedure to leave people with only the memories of their first encounter, so, Donna remembers the events of the Runaway Bride. And there's one inconsistency with this story: Young Amy lived on Leadworth and Donna lives on Chiswick, i only realized it after saving the document...
