Every now and then, there always stood a moment out of all the rest that caught attention. The one moment in which, one takes a step back and looks at what had caused that singular pause to be so important.
Temperance was still trying to decipher her own, when Booth gave a nudge to her, snapping her out of a trance.
"Careful Bones, you'll end up stepping in evidence." He said, stepping around the corpse which sat at the base of a bridge.
Temperance blinked and followed his lead. "Sorry. From the looks of it, looks like the twinning held the victim after they had already died. Probably to dispose of evidence." She leaned down, brushing away some pebbles with a gloved hand. "Looks to be about twenty five. Female."
Booth stooped down, his thigh just lightly brushing hers. "Any chance she's a Euro girl?"
Temperance nodded and pointed to the lower portion of her eyes. "You can tell by the way the structure is from the nose and eyes. She was definitely European descent."
"Then were dealing with a serial killing."
She blinked. "Just from that? Anyone could have killed her, Booth."
"No, no one else could have done this. Not this well planned. I've run across a few copycats, but this is definitely someone that's done it before." He went silent, his eyes low as memories seemed to overtake his thoughts. "Sending a message for us that they're still out there."
Temperance wasn't exactly sure what to deal with first. Handle the body like her job called her to do or take care of her friend and partner.
The look on his face brought back what had thrown her into that trance only moments ago. It had been a similar look, only at the time, on hers as she remembered when Booth protected her with his life. She could count off her hands how many times he'd always been there for her and willing to protect her.
"Will find him Booth." A touched his shoulders giving a firm squeeze. "Will catch them, I promise."
"I hope so." He grabbed at the comfort, not willing to let it go just yet.
