A/n ok, I know I should be working on Confidence, but I was listening to music and this song came on and all I could think was "TIVA!". Anyway, this is one of my favorite Carrie Underwood songs, and is called "Wasted". This is slightly AU because Ziva does not live in Miami with Ray.
Standin' at the back door,
she tried to make it fast
but one tear hit the hardwood,
it fell like broken glass.
She said "Sometimes love slips away
and you just can't get it back
gotta face it"
Ziva David walked toward the door, slowly, ever so slowly. She almost couldn't bring herself to do it. But she had to. She couldn't stay here. She wanted her old life back, with NCIS. With Gibbs, with McGee, with Abby, with Ducky…and with the reason she had left. Tony. They had gotten into an argument, and she left that night. That was almost a year ago.
For one split second,
she almost turned around.
But that would be like pouring raindrops
back into a cloud
so she took another step
said "I see the way out,
and I'm gonna take it"
She took another step, trying hard not to turn around. That would just make it worse.
Cuz I don't wanna spend my life jaded,
waitin'
to wake up one day and find
that I let all these years go by
wasted
She didn't want to miss them anymore. The team was her family. She turned her back on them, not for the first time, only because she was mad a Tony. She remembered something Abby had said. "All soft and goofy on the outside, and 100 percent rock on the inside! After everything you've been through together he risked his life to go save you!" so Ziva kept going. Towards her car. Home.
Another glass of whiskey
but it still don't kill the pain.
So he stumbles to the sink,
and pours it down the drain
He said "it's time to be a man
and stop living for yesterday
gotta face it"
Tony DiNozzo took another drink of whiskey. Things just hadn't been the same since Ziva left. Gibbs was like he had been when Kate died, McGee spent more and more time in the lab, Abby didn't even put her hair in pigtails anymore. And he was a nervous wreck. He looked at the bottle in his hand. Half empty and it wasn't helping at all. So he stood up and stumbled to the sink, and dumped the bottle down the drain.
Cuz I don't wanna spend my life jaded,
waitin'
to wake up one day and find
that I let all these years go by
wasted.
Oh, I don't wanna keep on wishin'
missin'
the still of the morning,
the color of the night
I ain't spendin' no more time
wasted.
This was it. He was not going back.
She kept driving along
'til the moon and the sun were
floatin' side by side.
Ziva kept driving, because every mile, every state line brought her closer to home. Home. She wasn't sure if they would accept her again, but at least they didn't have to save her. She knew where she would go first.
He looked in the mirror,
and his eyes were clear
for the first time in a while
Tony's doorbell rang. On his way over to answer it, he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. His eyes were clear, for once. He was amazed at who he saw.
I don't wanna spend my life jaded,
waitin'
to wake up one day and find
that I let all these years go by,
wasted.
She was surprised at the fact that, when he answered the door and saw her there, he didn't slam it in her face.
Oh, I don't wanna keep on wishin'
missin'
the still of the morning
the color of the night.
"Hi, Ziva"
""Hello, Tony. I am sorry for leaving."
"I'm sorry for making you mad like that."
I ain't spendin' no more time
wasted.
A/n Well, if you haven't figured it out, at the beginning Ziva had gotten mad at Tony and went to live in Miami with Ray (Mr. Miami), and Tony was a nervous wreck. This is also not related in any way to SkyeHigh and Confidence, so that's why Skye's not in it.
