Authors Note- I read many entries for 'Never Ever A Happy Ending' contest and it gave me the inspiration for my first fan fiction. This is from an all human perspective.
Disclaimer- I don't own twilight, Stephanie Meyer owns the characters and other attributes but the plot is mine.
The man with the bronze hair lay still staring at the ceiling. No one came to knock, to ask, but he could still feel their worry, their fear suffocating him. He came out sometimes the man, who was still really a boy with the pain ridden eyes. People talked to him, he answered. They all hoped, they though he was getting better.
Though Esme knew, Esme knew he wasn't getting better.
He went back to school eventually, ignoring the pity and her lingering presence. His grades previously in limbo quickly when back to how they were perhaps better the way he threw himself to desperate distraction. He joined clubs, teachers were surprised but they noticed a change, a shift.
Though Esme Knew, Esme Knew he wasn't getting better.
He spoke to the family again. A real conversation not the usual haughty remarks, the silences and the sarcasm. Emmett kept the jokes to a minimum, though many slipped through. The boy smiled, tight, strained but still there. They knew what to say and it helped. He was awarded a few moments bliss to be with his family.
Though Esme Knew, Esme Knew he wasn't getting better.
One day her name slipped through the walls. Isabella. Bella. Beautiful. The irony that her beautiful name couldn't stop the harsh reality of how she died. The boy tensed but moved on, carried on: joking, trying. He fought with Emmett, helped Alice, Studied with Carlisle.
Though Esme Knew, Esme knew he wasn't getting better.
Esme came home early that day, a sense of dread inside her. She took the steps to his room and saw two words imprinted 'She Promised'. Then Esme knew she knew what he had done without having to go ahead and look. The aftermath was shocking. No one could really believe it they all thought he was moving through the grief, getting closure.
Though Esme Knew, Esme knew he wasn't ever going to get better.
Authors Note- You may guess what Edward has done. This is in all human form and Bella had recently died and this tells of Edward's grief. I know it isn't that good but I just couldn't get rid of the idea..Please Review
