Welcome to my story Becoming Tifa! A few quick notes: Tifa's appearance is taken from Kingdom Hearts 2. I love her look in that game and therefore her eyes will be described as red/ruby etc. I have researched the Dirge of Cerberus story and other characters since the Final Fantasy 7 story has so many prequels and sequels. I have not however played any of the other games. I have seen Advent Children so that is the story I am most familiar with besides the original Final Fantasy 7 game. I have tried to make this story fit in with all that has come before it but please let me know of any serious egregious errors. I did begin this story MANY years ago so please keep that in mind as well. I hope you will enjoy. Feedback is most appreciated.

Disclaimer: Square Enix owns all the characters, worlds, music etc. when it comes to anything Final Fantasy.

Tifa let out a large sigh as she scrubbed wearily on a section of the counter. She glanced up at the clock for the umpteenth time in the past hour. 3 a.m. He hadn't shown, again. She briskly walked over to the sink, forcefully turning on the water and then stood there, staring straight ahead. Mixed feelings of embarrassment, nerves, and disappointment radiated through her body. It wasn't until the steam started to rise and engulf her face that she snapped back to the present.

"Shiva Tifa look at you." She said out loud. It wasn't that these feelings were new to her. On the contrary, she used to have this ritual almost every evening. She would try to change her routine to help herself not feel the feelings or look at the clock. However, by the end of the night she would have done the ritual anyway and then end up standing over the sink lost in thought, worrying because he hadn't shown up yet.

"Tifa began to laugh in spite of herself. Gawd, you really are the same as you've always been. You're pathetic. Did my inner monologue actually say gawd? I need to stop spending so much time with Yuffie.

She shook her head. "Time for bed." Tifa jumped, the sound of her own voice startling her. Turning off the water and leaving the cloth in the sink she turned and headed upstairs not looking forward to what was sure to be another evening of going in and out of dreams about him. As she laid her head to her pillow, she looked up at the ceiling and began to laugh. Maybe she was just doomed to go through life like this, pining for a guy she felt deep down would probably never love her. As her eyes began to get heavy she thought, Shiva help me, first Cloud and now...Reno.
