A/N - how heart-broken is everyone after tonight's episode? Not sure how inspired I am going to be now the dreaded break-up has happened, so I thought I'd do a quick one-shot whilst I still can. Pinched a bit of the EE script from Monday's ep to put it this. Let me know what you think xo
Lauren had spent the last hour stumbling around the park, sobering up. Her phone rang, and she rejected her mum's phone call. The tears starting again when she saw her phone background – a picture of her and Joey. Her now ex boyfriend. Her heart ached. Her eyes were beyond sore, she wasn't sure if she could actually physically cry anymore, besides she'd cried so much she made herself sick. She knew she needed to try and fix things, but she had no idea how.
Taking a deep breath, she knocked at the door of number 23. He opened it and sighed when he saw her. "What Lauren? Ain't really got anything to say to you" he said, disappointment in her, obviously in his tone. "I'm sorry." She mumbled. "I'm a mess." She looked up at him, eyes full of unshead tears.
"But please don't give up on us Joey." He ran his hands over his face. "It's done Lauren." "Please. Please. Don't give up on me, I can change." He shook his head. "No. No you can't Lauren."
"You can't do this. You love me. I know you love me" She pleaded with him, voice getting higher and louder. He shrugged. "Maybe I do. But I can't, can't keep watching you do this to yourself babe. It's over." He went to shut the door on her but she stopped him.
"No please" Tears spilling down her cheeks at this point. "Don't be like this. I can't do this without you." He sighed. "You can't do this with me though Lauren. Look at you, you're a state." She sobbed. "I know, okay?" Wiping her face, she tried once more. "But without you, I'll be worse." He flinched at whatever his imagination had shown of her being worse than she currently is.
"I need you. I love you" She cried, her voice wrecked with emotion. "After everything, everything that's happened since last time..." They exchanged a look, both remembering back to the last time she was begging him not to break up with her. "You can't give up on us this easily." She let out a choked sob. "Please Joey." Her voice cracked as she said his name.
"I'd had given up everything for you, I was going to" Both of them went back to that night, the night they were both prepared to run away, the only thing they cared about was each other. "So please don't give up on me now." She was tired, if he said no at this point, she wouldn't be able to fight it anymore. "Please. I love you. You're the only thing I need. Please don't do this." She ended softly, and raised her head to meet his eyes. So many emotions played out across his face before he reached out and pulled her into to him, his tight embrace.
"Things are going to have to change if this is going to work." He muttered into her hair, before pulling away to look her in the eye. "It needs to be different Lauren, I'm serious" She just nodded, she couldn't speak, there was a massive lump in her throat. He wiped away some tears, before pulling her back close.
"It's because I love you I can't watch you carry on, you know that?" She was beginning to realise that, that actually her actions were hurting him. That he loved her so much that seeing her hurt herself, hurt him. "I'm sorry." She mumbled into his neck. He shrugged off her apology. "If you want this to work..." she nodded. "And I do too, then that's what's going happen."
She smiled into his chest before muttering "Me and you." He mmm'd back. "Yup. Me and you babe."
