"Hello there, Mayor Oliver" Isabelle said, standing on the hardwood floor of an unknown room. This part always creeps me out. Not only do I not know where the room is, I also have the power to change time itself. Now I know that sounds cool, but it's a big responsibility.
"In Sunville, it's Wednesday, June 13, 2013, and the current time is 3:23. Well than, shall we get started?"
"I, uh…I need help first" I say. I reset the time back to 1:00, so I still have plenty of daylight left to roam around. "Okay all set, have a nice day" my secretary happily concluded, and everything went black.
I step outside the doorway. It's a bright summer day, and I can hear the chirping of a walker cicada, the buzzing of a robust cicada, the…well, basically there are a lot of freaking cicadas. I go to my mailbox, only to find something that would ultimately change my life forever.
"Hello peasants." The familiar handwriting of King Xenon was scrawled across
the paper. "As you all well know, each video game character from Nintendo, and some guest ones, receive letters when a new Super Smash Brothers game comes out, telling if they will be a part of it. Well,-" My reading was cut short when a familiar mole popped out of the ground.
"Alright kid, last time you played you quit without saving. How did that happen?" Resetti said. Last time I played, I accidentally dug up a tree stump with a design on it, so I quit without saving. "I meant to reset" I say, readying myself for what would come next. "Alright kid, I'll be with you in a sec." Resetti said as he scurried belowground.
He came up with a vengeance. "GRAAAAAAH!" "YOU GOT COTTON IN YOUR EARS OR SOMETHING?" "WHAT PART OF NO RESETTIN DON'T YOU GET!" It took a few seconds for that whack-a-mole to calm himself. Then he went on and on about how irresponsible I was, and that there was no reset button in real life. He followed with a short English lesson, and ended with "NOW SCRAM."
As I walked back to my mailbox, I wondered why I ever agreed to fund that project that gave Resetti his Reset Surveillance Center. "I must have been high" I thought. Isabelle could hook me up with some real…wait, WHAT AM I SAYING! Such a thing could never happen in an E-rated game. I must have been high when I wrote that.
Just as I began to open my mailbox, Tucker, my wooly Mammoth friend, ran over to me. "Um, hey mayor, we should build a…" He looked nervous, and was eyeing my mailbox. "We should build a letter shredder heheheheh" "It was obvious he had been reading my mail. I did my best aggravation emotion at him, and continued towards my mailbox. Suddenly Ruby, a bunny who has lived in Sunville for longer than I could remember, burst out of nowhere and said "Don't say anything, just follow me, okay?"
Apparently, my birthday was moved back a couple months, because Ruby was taking me to my birthday party. "It seems like everybody is trying to stop me from reading that letter." I think to myself. "Maybe they don't want my feelings to be hurt when I am rejected, but it's pretty clear I am going to be. Me being in Super Smash Bros is about as likely as the Wii fit trainer fighting. I laugh to myself at such a joke.
I find Isabelle waiting near my mailbox. "When you see what is on that letter, just remember that I love you." I must have told Isabelle a million times that I'm not into the whole human, dog thing, but she never listens. I finish reading the letter and I brace myself. "Well, you have been selected as a participant. Thank you and have a nice day"
What!
