Alright, this is the prologue for a massive Doctor Who and Firefly crossover I am writing. This will be a multi-chapter story, and reviews will really help me out!
Prolouge:
The rain pours down in machine gun bursts, tearing into the gravel and earth, uprooting young trees and a beautiful rose garden. But she can't feel it: not a single drop touches her skin. Even the dirt on which she stands is dry. She's disoriented, confused and unsure of herself. Where am I? She wonders, staring at the empty street before her. This is no place she has seen before, no long lost memory. A dream?
She wants to move, but she is stuck in place: her brain struggles to command her body, her limbs unresponsive. She is held there, at the mercy of someone else's will and not her own.
The water continues to cascade around her, drowning everything it touches. Wood boards and pipes are now being carried in the flow, streaming down the pavement. Sections of grass are being ripped from the sides of the street and drifting away in the cascading storm.
Something brushes the backs of her ankles. Finally, finally, her body is able to move. She turns carefully, ballerina feet extending and grounding her firmly as she twists. Her head suddenly feels heavy, and she can do nothing but let it hang. There, her gaze falls upon something odd.
There is a little girl, soaked to the bone, who has washed up on her tiny shore. She is no more than seven, the dreamer approximates from the small child-like body. She wants to lean down but she can't: she's stuck again and it's starting to aggravate her. The little girl's hair is what brushed against her feet, the dreamer notices as she stares down at the unruly, messy strands. The child shifts, her face orienting itself in a manner of pain, in the midst of a soundless yell.
River, someone screams, and she suddenly wakes up.
A short little intro: what do you think? Reviews are always loved!
