Summary- A short drabble focused on that special bond that Sasuke and Naruto have
AN- I first wrote this for Valentine's Day in 2012, because I am a loner lol, but my love for this pairing is so strong that I had to publish it.
I tried a different style of writing this time~ Honestly, this can simply be read as a look into their friendship or whichever way you like
Recurring dreams, replaying familiar scenes that border along memories and fantasy.
They appear each night of rest, even daring to show during the sunlight hours. Increasingly becoming more vivid.
Only then are the five senses so acute, so heightened that they know it cannot be real. Yet they cling on; desperate, longing for that familiar touch, voice, smell, taste, smile, because…
They are right there. Lying side by side in the soft grass, clashing weapons during heated battles, racing across Konohakage, whichever the scene they were a pair, strengthening that special bond that ties them together.
When reluctant eyes open to reality again, everything is monochrome compared to those vibrant scenes now hidden within the furthest reaches of their minds. There is no 'pair' here. They are separated yet bound by that indescribable bond that prevents them from forgetting, feeling for the other. An annoyance, a blessing that cannot be severed; it is something for them to hold onto and will lead them to each other when they cannot resist any longer.
But for now, Sasuke will keep on running, refusing to hold on. Naruto will keep on chasing, refusing to let go, until fate meets them in the end.
They look towards the same starry sky. Sleep creeping upon them, bringing forth the promise of another nostalgic dream.
As two pairs of fatigued eyes close, their bond pulls both ends of that red string closer. After all, a chase cannot last forever.
